Currently, Welthungerhilfe operates through its country office in Dhaka, as well as a field office in Cox`s Bazar. These initiatives are aimed at helping communities to achieve sustainable development, strengthened civil society, better access to government development programmes and ability to help themselves. Welthungerhilfe bases its efforts on the principle of help for self-help, which it implements with measures ranging from rapid disaster relief to rehabilitation to long-term development cooperation projects with national and international partner organizations.
∎ Project Context:
∎ Welthungerhilfe (WHH) Bangladesh aims to support the vulnerable community in the country level and facilitating their access to improved their social status, nutritious value, improve agricultural production, living conditions, sanitation facilities, personal hygiene etc. Through the project expects to reach extreme vulnerable groups and to provide them with direct assistance for Water, Sanitation and Hygiene needs by coordinating with and complementing of WATSAN/WASH programmes of the Government of Bangladesh, DPHE, UNICEF, UPs, BDRCS, UN agencies, international NGOs and local/national NGOs working, LGIs and Upazila administration in the country level. The position will work under the supervision of the Head of Finance closely coordinating with the Programme, MEAL, and Logistics departments.
∎ Objectives of Finance Assistant:
∎ Finance Assistant will be overall responsible for the project Finance and its effective management including financial planning, monitoring, analysis, reporting and delivery of a timely appropriate response to the project that builds strong links to the existing programs in Bangladesh. The specific focus areas of responsibility will include: CO liaison, financial reporting, negotiation; communication with different units/departments. Provide leadership and coordination in the administrative, organizational planning, accounting and budgeting efforts of the Organization.
∎ Country / Location : Bangladesh - Cox`s Bazar (Frequently travel to project areas)
∎ Immediate superior:
∎ a. Disciplinary : Country Director / Head of Mission
∎ b. Professional : Head of Finance
∎ Contract Period : 01.04.2023 to 31.12.2023 (09 months) with the possibility of extension
∎ Proposed start date : 1st of April 2023

Job Responsibilities:
∎ The Finance assistant is responsible for ensuring the efficient Finance by ensuring administrative procedures, policies and organizational standards.
∎ S/he is responsible for timely completion of all financial report and Project/field Office accounts align with the compliance of organization, donor policies & procedures.
∎ The position holder is also responsible for procurement and logistics function of the project/field office and ensure asset and materials inventory of the project office in line with the guidance and policy of Welthungerhilfe.
∎ Maintain and Review bill/vouchers and prepare debit/credit/journal vouchers.
∎ Update transactions into accounting software and expenditure tracking.
∎ Good knowledge on day-to-day Finance & Administration function.
∎ Sound knowledge of Tax/VAT calculation, Accounting Practices, Custom rules of the country and regulatory compliance.
∎ Handling and managing Audit, Project Costs, Income Tax matters etc.
∎ Maintain & manage petty cash management to Perform regular activities.
∎ Provide needful logistical and procurement support to program and partner NGO
∎ Frequent visit to project area, provide necessary support and assist in monitoring and supervision.
∎ Maintain stock register of project materials and office supplies and inventory management.
∎ Communicating external auditors during the project audits and related tasks.
∎ Prepare a Monthly Project Utilization Report and provide to the relevant Project teams.
∎ Any other project related activities that might be assigned by the management as when be needed.

Additional Requirements:
∎ Good command in both written and spoken English.
∎ Proven knowledge and skills on procurement and providing logistics support.
∎ Sound understanding on office administration, facilities, and logistics functions.
∎ Knowledge on humanitarian and donor funded project compliances and operation modalities.
∎ Excellent computer knowledge on Microsoft Excel, Word, and Power Point.
∎ Comfortable with using online based applications and software for different purposes.
∎ Excellent interpersonal and facilitation skills and can work as part of a team.
