Educational Requirements:
∎ Diploma in Agriculture, Diploma in Forestry or Bachelor degree in any discipline with at least three years of relevant experience. Fresh graduates (Bachelor Degree) in Agriculture/Forestry/Animal Husbandry/Social Work may also apply for the position. Higher degrees will get added advantage.

Job Context:
∎ Arannayk Foundation (AF) is a not-for-profit organization devoted to forest and biodiversity conservation in Bangladesh since 2003. It has been implementing the Activity-2 of the USAID`s COMPASS Project entitled, "Chittagong Hill Tracts Communities` Forest Landscape Restoration" in Bandarban under an award of international cooperative agreement with the USDA Forest Service, International Programs (USFS-IP). The project focuses on restoration and enhancement of ecosystem services of the degraded forest landscape in Rowangchari Upazila of Bandarban hill district for sustainable livelihood and wellbeing of local communities. The major activities of the project include identification of the degraded areas; planning of restoration options for the different categories (land-use and land-cover classes) of degraded lands through a participatory but science-based methodology; demonstration of the restoration options (improved land-use practices) and additional income generating activities; and capacity building of the local communities for such development in a sustainable manner.
∎ Duration: 1 (one) year initially and may be extended based on satisfactory performance and availability of project fund. However, for any reason, if the project is discontinued or fund is not available, the position shall be abolished
∎ The basic function of the position is to work in a team to implement the field activities, achieve the objectives and provide the deliverables of the project as per work plan developed by AF for Compass Activity 2 and the provisions of the award signed between AF and USFS. The key responsibilities of the position will include but not be limited to -

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Assist in selection of project participants and plantation sites
∎ Organize and facilitate community/group meetings
∎ Arrange training on institutional development and technical capacity development
∎ Provide accompaniment support to the project beneficiaries in implementation of alternative income generating activities (AIGA) and other development activities
∎ Collect field data relevant to monitoring plan
∎ Facilitate improved access of the farmers to markets and extension/technical service providers.
∎ Assist in developing/strengthening local nurseries with native species and forest landscape restoration activities in VCFs, corridors and riparian areas.
∎ Assist in environmental awareness raising activities with the communities.
∎ Maintain electronic databases of the project as required;
∎ Ensure effective implementation of planned field activities to meet targets and timeline as per donor requirements.
∎ Ensure that Arannayk Foundation's and donors brand values are maintained to strengthen good will and credibility in line with organizational values, mission and vision.
∎ Perform any other duties/tasks as assigned by the Executive Director of AF
∎ This position will be based at the Arannayk Foundation project office in Bandarban with necessary field visits to working sites. S/he will be reportable to and be evaluated on the performance by the Executive Director of AF. The Senior Program Officer of AF also designated as the Senior FLR Specialist of the Project with Compass C2/FLR Lead will also provide supervision and guidance in planning, designing, strategy development & any other technical advisory support required for execution of activities.

Additional Requirements:
∎ At least 2 years relevant working experience in national or international NGO on Forest Conservation or Natural Resources Management and community mobilization;
∎ Ability to work with a diverse team and willingness to work under pressure;
∎ Should have valid motorbike driving license and should be able to drive motorbike
∎ Able to speak in local dialect
∎ Preferably from CHT

Salary: Tk. 25000 - 30000 (Monthly)
