Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Textile Engineering, Fashion Design, or related field.
Strong understanding of yarns, knitting techniques, dyeing, finishing, and textile testing.
Proven experience working with mills or in a sourcing/development role.
Ability to translate fashion trends into commercially viable fabric options.
Key Skills & Competencies :
Excellent knowledge of global fabric trends and material innovation.
Strong technical understanding of both knit and lightweight woven fabrics.
Ability to communicate effectively with mills, suppliers, and internal teams.
Strong analytical ability to evaluate fabric performance and costing.
Creative mindset with a commercial understanding.
Proficiency in MS Office; knowledge of Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop is a plus.
Strong project management and multitasking ability.
Additional Requirements:
Understanding of sustainable materials and circular textile concepts.
Experience visiting international fabric fairs is an advantage.

We are looking for a skilled and innovative Fabric Designer who will lead global fabric sourcing, analyse seasonal trends, develop new fabric concepts, and collaborate with internal teams to support forward marketing. The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge in knit and woven fabric, a solid understanding of global material trends, and the ability to translate market insights into commercially viable fabric solutions.
Key Responsibilities
1. Fabric Sourcing & Supply Chain Management
• Source a wide range of knit (both light weight, heavy weight, Home and Abroad fabrics) and lightweight woven fabrics from global markets
• Build and maintain relationships with mills, suppliers, and agents.
• Evaluate mill capabilities, pricing, MOQs, lead time, and compliance.
• Identify new mills and fabric innovations to enhance product offering.
2. Trend & Market Analysis
• Conduct continuous research on global fashion trends, color stories, fabric innovations, and seasonal direction.
• Collaborate with the design/merchandising team to analyse upcoming trends for Spring/Summer and Autumn/Winter seasons.
• Prepare seasonal fabric trend boards and presentations for internal and external use.
3. Fabric Development & Innovation
• Work closely with R&D to develop newness in fabrics (performance, sustainability, blends, finishes, technical fabrics).
• Develop exclusive fabrics, textures, and structures aligned with buyer needs.
• Analyse fabric performance data (shrinkage, GSM, pilling, fastness, stretch/recovery).
• Evaluate possibilities for recycled, organic, and sustainable material usage.
4. Support to Product Development
• Work with Product Development team to suggest suitable fabrics for new styles.
• Provide PD team with forward marketing support similar to global apparel development models (e.g., Dewhirst).
• Assist in preparing fabric libraries, hangers, fabric swatches, and marketing boards.
• Attend buyer meetings to present fabric concepts and innovation projects.
5. Technical Expertise
• Provide technical recommendations on yarn count, knitting/weaving structure, GSM, finishing techniques, dyeing/printing methods, cam settings, machine designs etc.
• Troubleshoot fabric issues in development stages with mill and internal teams.
• Ensure fabric quality standards are aligned with buyer specifications.
