Skills Required:

Additional Requirements:
  • Age 45 to 52 years
  • Prior policy, process framing, reform and process working experience negotiating with the Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Finance, and Industry , BB and other concerns. Must have skills to liaise with wide-ranging private sector Industries and Government agencies dealing with the Trade & Commercial issues.

  • Trade organization rule, Company Act, election matters, Office administration and economic research related experience can be preferred.

  • Contemporary private sector issues and macroeconomic analysis and knowledge are essential.

  • 15 years or above of outstanding and relevant experience in diverse Private/ Public bodies (May be preferrable).

  • Work experience in strategic post of reputed trade organization can be preferable.

  • Friendly personality, diligent and willing to work under pressure across the organization and with people from diverse stakeholders.



Responsibilities & Context:
  • Dhaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI) is the largest and most active Chamber of the country, established in 1958, was incorporated under the companies Act, V11 of 1913 as a limited company on March 10, 1959. It serves as a non-profit, service-oriented organization. It has rendered more than six decades of very useful services for the development of business and industry in Bangladesh.

  • DCCI seeks an experienced and qualified person for appointment to the post of Secretary General. The position holder works under the direct supervision of the President of DCCI and regularly reports to the Board of Directors as well.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Secretary General leads the secretariat and will be responsible for implementing the Board's decisions, driving policy advocacy and managing daily chamber operations

  • Secretariat Management: Overseeing the daily administrative, financial, and operational functions of the chamber. Supervise the chamber’s daily operations, oversee departmental activities, and manage the administrative and professional staff.

  • Policy Execution: Translate the vision, goals, and resolutions set by the DCCI Board of Directors into actionable operational plans.

  • Resource Optimization: Oversee organizational budgets, financial management, and ensure the efficient delivery of services to members and other stakeholders.

  • Membership Services: Ensuring smooth processing of DCCI membership enrollments and addressing the commercial concerns of entrepreneurs.

  • Policy Advocacy & Networking: Overseeing the policy related research works to prepare economic position papers, budget proposals, and policy inputs for the NBR, Commerce, Industry, finance, PMO, Bangladesh Bank, EPB and other relevant government ministries.

  • Delegation & Trade Promotion: Coordinating international trade delegations and facilitating [Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) with domestic and foreign concerns.

  • Government Liaison: Spearhead economic, trade and investment related policy advocacy, draft proposals, and facilitate dialogues, seminars and outcome of dialogues between the business community and government bodies.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the primary link between the Board of Directors, internal Committees, member companies, and international business councils.

  • Representation: Represent the chamber in national/international forums, seminars, and meetings with inbound global trade delegation.

  • Member Services & Institutional Growth guidance: Oversight in processing membership applications, renewal and expanding the chamber's member base.

  • Dispute Resolution to facilitate the resolution of trade-related disputes among members or with external stakeholders.

  • Events & Delegations: Oversee the organization of trade fairs, B2B matchmaking sessions, seminars, RTD and training programs hosted by the DCCI.
