Additional Requirements:
  • Age At least 35 years

• Strong knowledge of Import L/C, BTB L/C, UPAS/Deferred L/C, shipping documentation and customs clearance.

• Good understanding of Bangladesh Bank regulations and Chattogram Port procedures.

• Strong communication and negotiation skills with banks, suppliers and C&F agents.

• Good command of English, MS Excel and ERP/software systems.

• Ability to manage multiple L/Cs, shipments and deadlines simultaneously.



Responsibilities & Context:

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced and proactive Manager – Import to oversee import operations, L/C management, shipment monitoring, customs clearance, banking coordination and supplier communication. The candidate will ensure timely and cost-effective import of raw materials and other goods in line with business and production requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage Import L/C, BTB L/C, At Sight, Deferred and UPAS L/Cs from opening to settlement.

• Coordinate with banks for L/C opening, amendments, document acceptance, payment and retirement.

• Monitor shipments, vessel schedules, ETA, shipping documents and container movement.

• Coordinate with suppliers, freight forwarders, shipping lines and C&F agents.

• Review and ensure accuracy of Commercial Invoice, Packing List, B/L, AWB, COO, Insurance and other import documents.

• Monitor customs assessment, duty/tax payment, examination, clearance and delivery.

• Minimize demurrage, detention and other unnecessary import-related costs.

• Monitor BTB L/C maturity and ensure timely availability of imported raw materials for production.

• Coordinate with Purchase, Merchandising, Production, Finance, Accounts, Warehouse and other relevant departments.

• Prepare and maintain L/C, shipment, clearance, payment forecast and import performance reports.

• Resolve import, documentation, banking and supplier-related discrepancies and escalate critical issues to management.
