Educational Requirements:
∎ Bachelor in Engineering (BEngg) in Civil Engineering, Water Resources
∎ Bachelor’s degree in Civil/water Resources Engineering preferably with master’s degree in Water resources or Environmental Engineering.

Experience Requirements:
∎ 10 to 12 year(s)
∎ The applicants should have experience in the following area(s): Planning and Designing

Job Responsibilities:
∎ i) Work with group under Project Management;
∎ ii) Prepare feasibility studies of flood control and urban drainage system improvement subprojects prioritized by priority PSs, including those in slum areas, in collaboration with other relevant specialists;
∎ iii) Discuss the technical viability of various proposed options for each subproject, and demonstrate that they are most cost efficient;
∎ iv) Review O&M options and prepare an O&M strategy including technical procedures to ensure efficiency and sustainability of the selected subprojects; and develop subproject selection criteria for the sector.
∎ v) Prepare feasibility studies and designs of flood control and urban drainage system improvement sub-projects prioritized under the project, including those in slum areas, in collaboration with other relevant specialists;
∎ vi) Discuss the technical viability of various proposed options for each sub-project and demonstrate that they are most cost efficient;
∎ vii) Coordinate with relevant government departments, such as, Bangladesh Water Development Board to ensure consistency in the approach for reducing water logging and flood impacts;
∎ viii) Review O&M options and prepare an O&M strategy including technical procedures to ensure efficiency and sustainability of the selected sub-projects;
∎ ix) Assist to develop drainage sub-project according to selection criteria for the project;
∎ x) He will contribute significantly in survey, selection of sub-projects, preparation of design, drawing & engineers estimate, BoQ, environmental and social safeguards reports, preparation of SPARs and tender documents etc.;
∎ xi) Perform in a strictly time bound manner in total adherence to the qualitative and quantitative requirements of the project vis a vis consulting assignment and ought to remain cautious so as to ensure that there is no unjustified time or cost over-run.

Additional Requirements:
∎ Minimum 10 years practical experience in planning, design construction and management of flood control and urban drainage system projects. Design experience of drainage structures will be essential.

Salary:
∎ Practical Action will pay a consolidated amount for the whole contract, including VAT, Tax to Individual Consultant(s) and associated field travel including food, accommodation, per diem and consultation meetings and workshops. The consulting Firm(s)/ Individual Consultant(s) will be paid 5% of the agreed amount upon signing contract and remaining 90% over 18 instalments through period upon completion of deliverables and rest 5% upon completion of the assignment / or as stated by the donor.
