Educational Requirements:
∎ Bachelor's degree in Journalism, English or related field
∎ 3 or more years of demonstrated journalism experience
∎ Must have demonstrated news reporting and writing experience, including but not limited to producing daily and enterprise copy that is error-free, clear and concise and inclusive of all appropriate context.
∎ Must have demonstrated experience producing daily and enterprise news stories for a professional news organization or reasonable facsimile.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES: Research stories using personal contacts, databases and/or the Web; finds the most relevant sources for information; develops a list of knowledgeable, diverse sources. Produces story ideas from the assigned beat or from conversations with sources and other members of the community. Write stories that are clear and concise, using words, sentence construction and organizational format that aid clarity. Complements stories with points of entry and supporting documents. Consistently produces sophisticated stories and story ideas from conversations with co-workers, sources and other members of the community. Writes stories that provide sufficient context and use multiple sources. Coordinate assignments with The Delta Mail reporters.
∎ RESPONSIBILITIES:
∎ Report and write general news, enterprise and investigate stories meeting essential and basic requirements described above.
∎ Prioritizes delivery of relevant breaking news type content for immediate dissemination on our digital platforms, when appropriate and under the guidance of supervisors.
∎ Develop and maintain skills needed to provide the photo, video and audio components of a story.
∎ Work with editors early to identify appropriate digital components.
∎ Produces work that is accurate in fact, tone and implication. Understands and follows libel law and the rules governing plagiarism.
∎ Discusses original and assigned story ideas with supervising editor, maintaining an accurate planning document to be shared. Participates in brainstorming sessions to develop detailed and realistic story ideas.
∎ Works with supervising editor to develop and/or improve reporting and writing skills. Seeks out and participates in training opportunities to improve skills.
∎ Reacts to change productively.
∎ Must demonstrate an ability to function in a stressful, fast-moving and ever-changing environment.
∎ Performs other duties as assigned by management.

∎ Must be able to capture quality photos and videos using phone.
∎ Must demonstrate the ability to take communication and guidance from supervisors and act on it appropriately.
∎ Must be proficient with grammar, AP style and libel law. Should have demonstrated ability to work with the public and communicate regularly with readers and sources on appropriate social media platforms.
∎ Strong communication and interpersonal skills associated with developing trusting relationships and maintaining a high level of confidentiality
∎ Strong organization and prioritization skills with excellent follow through.
∎ Physical Requirements: Close eye work, continuous sitting, constant walking, standing, light to moderate lifting.
∎ Terms and Condition:
∎ The candidate will undertake three months of training on Journalism for social change
∎ Develop and submit at least three assignments
∎ Successful candidates will be appointed as district correspondent
∎ Other Requirements:
∎ Educational qualification will be relaxed for experienced and deserving candidates.
∎ Must have leadership quality
∎ Must be good both in Bengali and English
∎ Must have good relation with union press club, reporters community, writers, litterateur, storyteller, politician, businessmen, artist, GO and NGO organizations, senior citizen.
