Responsibilities & Context:

JOB CONTEXT

The Director / Deputy Director of Alumni Relations will lead the strategic planning, development, and execution of programs that strengthen the relationship between the university and its alumni community. This role oversees engagement initiatives, communications, events, volunteer programs, and partnerships that foster lifelong involvement, philanthropic support, and professional networking among alumni. The Director / Deputy Director  collaborates closely with Communications, Career Services, Academic departments and other offices to build a vibrant, connected alumni network.

 

REPORTING

The Director / Deputy Director, Alumni Relations reports to the Vice Chancellor.

 

MAIN JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

 

1. Alumni Engagement & Community Building

  • Develop and implement alumni engagement strategies aligned with institutional priorities.

  • Maintain regular communication through newsletters, social media, and digital platforms.

  • Coordinate reunions, networking events, homecoming programs, and milestone-class initiatives.

  • Support alumni-led interest groups, chapters, and professional networks.

 2. Alumni Database & Information Management

  • Maintain an up-to-date and accurate alumni database.

  • Oversee data collection, segmentation, and analytics to support engagement planning.

  • Ensure compliance with data protection and privacy regulations.

3. Communication & Content Development

  • Produce high-quality content for alumni newsletters, magazines, web pages, and social media.

  • Highlight alumni achievements and success stories to elevate institutional branding.

  • Collaborate with Communications/PR to deliver consistent and effective messaging.

4. Career Development & Student Support

  • Facilitate opportunities for alumni to mentor students and young graduates.

  • Build partnerships with industries to support alumni employability.

  • Coordinate alumni participation in career fairs, guest lectures, and professional workshops.

5. Fundraising & Development Support

  • Cultivate donors and supporters from the alumni community.

  • Support campaigns, sponsorship drives, and giving initiatives.

  • Maintain strong relationships with influential alumni and prospective donors.

 6. Event Planning & Logistics

  • Plan and execute alumni programs both in-person and online (e.g., webinars, talks).

  • Manage event budgets, logistics, vendor negotiations, and post-event reporting.

  • Evaluate event outcomes to improve future initiatives.

 7. Partnership & Institutional Collaboration 

  • Liaise with academic departments, student clubs, and administrative offices to integrate alumni contributions.

  • Foster opportunities for alumni involvement in curriculum enrichment, research collaboration, and institutional development.

 8. Monitoring, Reporting & Evaluation 

  • Prepare annual engagement reports and analytics summaries.

  • Track KPIs such as participation rates, database growth, donor conversion, and alumni satisfaction.

  • Continuously assess alumni trends to refine strategy.
