Responsibilities & Context:

Core Duties

• Examination & Diagnosis: Conduct oral exams, interpret X-rays, and diagnose dental conditions, injuries, and diseases.

• Treatment: Perform fillings, extractions, root canals, apply sealants, and place crowns, bridges, or dentures.

• Pain Management: Administer anesthetics to ensure patient comfort during procedures.

• Prevention: Educate patients on proper brushing, flossing, diet, and fluoride use to prevent decay and gum disease.

• Prescribing: Write prescriptions for antibiotics or pain relievers. 

Other Key Responsibilities

• Treatment Planning: Develop comprehensive plans to address patients' specific dental needs.

• Supervision: Oversee dental assistants and hygienists.

• Record Keeping: Maintain accurate patient records and charts.

• Referrals: Refer patients to specialists (like orthodontists or oral surgeons) when needed.

• Practice Management: May assist with managing the dental practice, including staff and budgets.
