Context:

As an ophthalmologist you'll deal with a range of conditions, including eye surgery like - cataracts, glaucoma, squints, eye injuries and infectious eye diseases and degenerative conditions resulting from ageing. You'll attend in both outpatient department & in-door eye patients. Manage patients of all ages, from premature babies to the elderly, with acute and long-term eye conditions.

Responsibilities:

• Assess and examine patients in order to make a diagnosis.

• Perform ophthalmic surgeries such as cataract, glaucoma, refractive, corneal, vitro-retinal, eye muscle, and oculoplastic surgeries.

• Manage Eye camp for AWCH.

• Do occasional ward rounds (most ophthalmic patients have day surgery and don't stay in hospital overnight).

• Operate equipment such as ophthalmoscopes, slit lamps etc.

• Provide advice and reassurance to patients and family members.

• Educate patients to help them understand their medical condition.

• Handle legal documentation for the certification of patients as blind or partially sighted.
