Education:

• Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery(MBBS)

• Medical Degree (MBBS) with specialization in Ophthalmology (MD/MS/DO).

• Training: Completed residency in ophthalmology.

• Certification: Valid license to practice medicine and registration with the relevant medical council.

• Skills: Proficiency in using equipment like slit lamps and ophthalmoscopes.

An eye hospital doctor (Ophthalmologist) provides comprehensive eye care, including diagnosing, treating, and managing diseases, conducting surgeries (e.g., cataracts, laser), and examining patients in OPDs. They prescribe medications and corrective lenses, manage pre/post-operative care, and collaborate with staff to ensure patient care, clinical documentation, and safety standards are met.

Core Responsibilities

• Clinical Consultation: Perform comprehensive eye examinations, diagnose vision problems, and treat eye diseases/disorders.

• Surgery & Procedures: Perform ocular surgeries (cataract, trauma, laser) and minor procedures.

• Patient Management: Manage outpatient clinics (OPD), emergency care, and pre-operative/post-operative care.

• Diagnostic Testing: Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests (e.g., OCT, angiography).

• Prescription: Prescribe medications, eye drops, and fit eyeglasses or contact lenses.

• Documentation: Maintain accurate patient records, treatment plans, and follow-up notes.

• Collaboration: Work with nurses, optometrists, and specialists, adhering to hospital, medical, and ethical standards.
