Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Working with the MEL team and by following the PRA method involving the farming community, s/he will be collecting qualitative data to select villages for the USAID CSA project.
∎ Identifying the needs for CSA and appropriately working with the farm community to transfer the suggested CSA technologies and linking farmers with markets.
∎ Develop sustainably at least 20 CSA model villages for five years so that these model villages penetrate the CSA technologies all over the country.
∎ Maintaining effective networking with the local CSA input dealers so that timely delivery of inputs will be ensured to the farmers.
∎ S/he will be working closely with the IPM/ICM/Farmers Club and also collect information on other ongoing activities by other development initiatives to find out the scope for future collaboration.
∎ S/he will do regular monitoring of the CSA technologies and practices and report back to Field Supervisors on the progress of developing the model villages and any other related information.
∎ S/he will work closely with the local level private sector companies to ensure the availability of CSA inputs during the need of the season and ensure delivery of the same to the farmers.
∎ Develop a group of young and energetic rural individuals including women who are interested in assisting farmers for introducing and practicing a buy-back model so that farmers get a reasonable price for both the input and output products.
∎ S/he will also work with the Assistant Training Officer to organize training events as per the training schedule.
∎ S/he will maintain excellent relationships with the local key personnel who may act as motivators to increase the number of early adopters of CSA technologies and practices.
∎ S/he will work closely with the MEL team to collect periodic data and whenever necessary collect scientific data for diagnostic study purposes.

∎ Position Summary
∎ The Community Farm Development Officer is a national position, who will be working in the USAID CSA project for IFDC Field Offices to ensure timely identification and transfer of CSA technologies to the villages where USAID CSA activities will be implemented. He/she will also be responsible for linking farmers with markets. S/he will have to possess cultural respect and motivational skills to convince the local community of the CSA activities. Knowledge of local dynamics and networking with the adjacent private sector actors will be key. S/he will have to have previous working experience, especially with the public and private sector extension agents and the Lead Farmers so that climate-smart technologies can be launched at ease. The Community Farm Development Officer will be based in the project field offices in Jashore and Barishal to work with the village-level farm community. Each officer will be responsible for developing sustainably at least 20 CSA model villages over a period of five years on so that these model villages penetrate the CSA technologies over the country,

∎ The Community Farm Development Center Officer is supervised by and reports to the Field Supervisor under the respective field office of IFDC in Barishal region. S/he works in close collaboration with other colleagues, and field-level IFDC staff.

∎ These positions with a duty station in the IFDC Field Offices in Barishal
∎ The position requires intensive travel (up to 50% of the time) in target ZOI districts of USAID’s Feed the Future project.
