  • Experience with graphic design software (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite)
  • Familiarity with digital marketing tools and platforms
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.


Responsibilities & Context:

The Communications Officer will play a crucial role in developing and implementing communication strategies to raise the organization's profile. This role will primarily focus on two major initiatives: overseeing communication for the annual conference and the launch of our new Department of Environmental Science and Sustainability. The ideal candidate is a passionate storyteller who can create compelling content across various platforms, manage our digital presence, and build strong media relationships while translating complex ideas into clear, accessible messages.

Responsibilities-

  • Develop and execute all communication activities for the conference, including liaising with stakeholders and creating materials.
  • Develop and manage strategies for communication and promotional activities for the Department of Environmental Science and Sustainability.
  • Develop, write, and edit high-quality content for our website, social media, email, newsletters, press releases, reports, and marketing materials.
  • Create compelling visual content (e.g., graphics, videos, photos) or work with external vendors to produce them.
  • Manage and grow the organization's social media presence (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram).
  • Build and maintain relationships with journalists, reporters, and media outlets.
  • Act as a point of contact for media inquiries and coordinate with key staff and spokespeople.
  • Assist in the development and execution of the organization's overall communications strategy.
  • Support teams in developing communication plans for specific projects and campaigns.
