Context:

We are looking for an experienced and visionary Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our large export-oriented garments manufacturing company in Bangladesh. The CFO will be responsible for leading the company’s financial strategy, ensuring sustainable growth, and safeguarding financial stability. This role will oversee all aspects of financial planning, reporting, treasury, compliance, and risk management while serving as a strategic advisor to the CEO and Board of Directors. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, proven expertise in financial management within the garments/textiles industry, and the ability to drive operational excellence in a dynamic, export-focused business environment.

Job Responsibilities:

Strategic & Business Leadership

• Develop and execute long-term financial strategies aligned with the company’s business vision and global competitiveness.

• Actively participate in business strategy formulation, market expansion plans, and investment decisions.

• Evaluate new export markets, business diversification opportunities, and joint ventures/partnerships.

• Provide financial leadership for business transformation, digitalization, and sustainability initiatives (ESG, green financing, carbon footprint).

• Guide CEO/Board on geopolitical, economic, and trade-related financial risks that may impact exports.

Financial Planning & Management

• Lead the company’s budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling functions.

• Establish robust MIS (Management Information System) for real-time performance monitoring.

• Oversee capital allocation, ensuring optimal use of resources for revenue growth and cost control.

• Develop metrics and KPIs to track organizational performance and financial health.

• Implement zero-based budgeting (ZBB) and activity-based costing (ABC) for efficiency.

Treasury, Fundraising & Capital Markets

• Manage treasury operations including liquidity, forex management, hedging, and trade finance.

• Negotiate with banks, non-banking financial institutions, and international lenders for working capital, loans, and project financing.

• Explore alternative financing options including bonds, private equity, venture capital, and government incentives.

• Ensure proper utilization of export incentives, subsidies, and tax rebates offered by the government of Bangladesh.

• Monitor global currency risks (USD, EUR, GBP, etc.) to protect export revenue.

Compliance, Governance & Risk Management

• Ensure full compliance with IFRS/GAAP, Bangladesh Bank guidelines, NBR tax regulations, VAT/Customs rules, and global buyer compliance.

• Establish strong internal control systems to safeguard company assets and prevent fraud.

• Lead external audits and maintain strong relationships with auditors and regulators.

• Develop an enterprise risk management framework covering financial, operational, legal, reputational, and geopolitical risks.

• Drive compliance with international standards (ILO, IFC, OECD) often required by global buyers.

Operational & Cost Leadership

• Partner with production, supply chain, and merchandising teams to ensure financial efficiency in procurement, raw materials, logistics, and inventory management.

• Implement lean finance practices to reduce overheads and optimize operational spending.

• Benchmark costs with industry leaders to maintain competitive export pricing.

• Introduce digital tools and ERP systems for accurate cost accounting and reporting.

• Monitor buyer credit ratings and negotiate favorable payment terms to reduce financial exposure.

People Leadership & Development

• Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing finance team with a strong succession pipeline.

• Drive professional certification programs (CA, ACCA, CMA) for finance staff to enhance capability.

• Conduct regular training on financial analysis, risk management, compliance, and leadership.

• Foster a performance-driven, ethical, and transparent culture in the finance function.

External Stakeholder Engagement

• Build strong relationships with banks, investors, auditors, tax authorities, government agencies, and global buyers.

• Represent the company’s financial outlook in investor presentations, board meetings, and international forums.

• Support contract negotiations with buyers, suppliers, and strategic partners with financial insights.

• Enhance corporate reputation by ensuring transparent reporting and ethical governance.

 Technology, Automation & Transformation

• Drive digital transformation in finance through ERP, AI-driven analytics, and business intelligence tools.

• Ensure financial data security and implement robust cybersecurity measures.

• Explore automation of financial processes (AP, AR, Payroll, Treasury).

• Use predictive analytics to support proactive decision-making.

Sustainability & Corporate Responsibility

• Align financial strategy with ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) goals.

• Facilitate green financing, sustainable sourcing, and renewable energy investments.

• Ensure compliance with buyers’ sustainability audits and reporting standards.

• Integrate sustainability metrics into financial KPIs to attract global buyers and investors.
