Responsibilities & Context:
  • Develop, implement, and enforce credit policies and procedures.

  • Evaluate customer creditworthiness using financial statements, credit reports, and payment history.

  • Set appropriate credit limits and terms for customers.

  • Monitor credit risk exposure across the customer portfolio.

  • Recommend approval, adjustment, or rejection of credit applications.

  • Oversee the accounts receivable function, ensuring timely invoicing and payments.

  • Monitor outstanding debts and follow up on overdue accounts.

  • Implement strategies to minimize bad debts and write-offs.

  • Coordinate with collection agencies or legal teams when necessary.

  • Prepare regular credit risk and collections reports for senior management.

  • Forecast cash flow impacts of credit and collections performance.

  • Analyze trends in customer payment behaviors and recommend corrective actions.

  • Monitor key metrics such as Days Sales Outstanding (DSO), aging reports, and bad debt ratios.

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and legal requirements.

  • Maintain accurate documentation of credit evaluations and collection efforts.

  • Liaise with auditors and regulatory bodies as needed.

  • Negotiate credit terms and repayment plans with customers.

  • Handle escalated customer disputes related to billing or credit.

  • Build strong relationships with clients while balancing risk and customer satisfaction.

  • Lead and mentor the credit control/credit management team.

  • Set performance goals, monitor results, and provide training.

  • Foster a culture of accountability, efficiency, and continuous improvement.

  • Work closely with Sales, Finance, and Legal teams to balance revenue growth with risk management.

  • Support business development by providing credit input for potential new deals.
