Context:
The Head of IT will oversee the entire technology and information systems landscape for Designer Fashion Ltd. & Designer Washing & Dyeing Ltd. This includes leading ERP implementation, software system development, network infrastructure, security, automation, and digital transformation initiatives. The role is responsible for aligning IT strategies with business goals, ensuring seamless integration of technology and driving process efficiencies through smart digital solutions.
Strategic Responsibilities:
Define and lead the IT vision and strategy to support business goals and future scalability of operations.
Align IT initiatives with core business strategies, including operational excellence, supply chain digitization, product traceability, and compliance.
Develop a roadmap for digital transformation focused on process optimization, real-time monitoring, and business intelligence.
Core Functional Responsibilities:
ERP Implementation & Lifecycle Management:
Lead the end-to-end ERP system selection, customization, implementation, testing, and go-live phases.
Integrate ERP modules across finance, inventory, procurement, HR, compliance, production planning, and chemical usage.
Ensure post-implementation support, continuous optimization, and user training to maximize ERP value.
Custom Software Development & Business Solutions:
Oversee in-house or third-party development of tools to track machine output, labor performance, sample logs, and buyer compliance requirements.
Build and maintain web-based/mobile applications for floor-level operations, chemical tracking, real-time WIP (Work in Progress), and QC/QA systems.
Evaluate and implement AI/ML-powered tools for predictive maintenance and production analysis.
IT Infrastructure & Operations:
Oversee the organization’s infrastructure, including servers, storage, networking, wireless, cloud computing, and end-user computing.
Ensure continuous availability of business-critical systems and networks with robust backup and disaster recovery solutions.
Manage inventory of IT assets, software licenses, warranties, and upgrades.
Cybersecurity & Data Governance
Implement cybersecurity frameworks to protect organizational data, systems, and IP from internal and external threats.
Define policies and controls around data access, password management, firewalls, encryption, VPNs, and endpoint security.
Ensure legal and regulatory compliance for data handling (e.g., ISO 27001, GDPR, BGD ICT policy).
Digitization of Operations:
Drive technology adoption across production processes—automated dosing systems, machine interfacing (PLC/SCADA), barcode tracking, RFID tagging, etc.
Enable real-time dashboards for machine productivity, downtime tracking, utility (water, steam, chemical) consumption, and batch status.
Coordinate with technical teams to implement IIoT and smart factory technologies.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work with Production, Planning, Quality, Merchandising, and Compliance teams to map system needs and streamline workflows.
Support Finance in integrating real-time costing, budgeting, and reporting functions.
Coordinate with HR to implement digitized employee records, payroll, biometric attendance, and performance systems.
Vendor & Project Management:
Manage relationships with ERP consultants, software vendors, ISPs, hardware providers, and implementation partners.
Ensure SLAs are honored and projects are delivered within scope, time, and budget.
Lead complex projects with structured documentation, change management, and milestone tracking.
Leadership & Team Development:
Build and lead a multidisciplinary IT team (ERP specialists, network admins, developers, support engineers).
Conduct skill gap analysis and provide training in ERP, cybersecurity, cloud systems, and DevOps.Set performance metrics, manage team KPIs, and encourage innovation and accountability.
Analytics, Reporting & Business Intelligence:
Establish enterprise-wide data management and reporting practices.
Develop dashboards and KPIs for production efficiency, inventory turnover, compliance metrics, and customer satisfaction.
Use analytics to support strategic decisions in capacity planning, order fulfillment, and operational improvement.
Budgeting & Cost Control:
Prepare and manage the IT department’s annual budget, including CAPEX/OPEX planning.
Ensure optimal use of resources and ROI from IT investments.
Explore cost-saving initiatives through cloud migration, virtualization, and process reengineering.
Compliance & Audit:
Ensure all IT systems comply with internal policies and external regulatory requirements (e.g., BSCI, WRAP, ISO, ACCORD).
Conduct regular system audits, penetration tests, and user access reviews.
Support buyer audits with data and system documentation.
