Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Collect raw material, clinker, and cement samples from production lines at regular intervals.
∎ Prepare samples for chemical and physical analysis (e.g., grinding, sieving, and weighing).
∎ Perform chemical analysis of raw materials, clinker, cement, and other inputs using laboratory equipment such as:
∎ a) X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) for elemental analysis.
∎ Titration methods to determine free lime, SO₃ content, etc.
∎ Gravimetric analysis for loss on ignition (LOI) and other parameters.
∎ Analyze the presence of key compounds like silica (SiO₂), alumina (Al₂O₃), calcium oxide (CaO), and iron oxide (Fe₂O₃) etc.
∎ Conduct physical tests on cement and clinker, such as:
∎ a) Fineness (Blaine test).
∎ b) Compressive strength of cement at different curing times (e.g., 7-day and 28-day tests).
∎ c) Consistency and setting time (initial and final).
∎ d) Soundness test (Le Chatelier or autoclave method).
∎ Monitor and ensure the quality of the raw materials mix, clinker, and finished cement through real-time analysis.
∎ Assist in optimizing the chemical composition of clinker by adjusting raw material proportions based on test results.
∎ Monitor cement performance by analyzing clinker-free lime and mineralogy.
∎ Ensure that all test results comply with industry standards and specifications (e.g., ASTM, EN, BIS, or ISO standards).
∎ Identify non-conformance and report deviations to senior chemists or quality control managers.
∎ Operate and maintain laboratory instruments such as:
∎ a) XRF analyzers, XRD machines.
∎ b) Spectrophotometers.
∎ c) Crushers, grinders, and sieves.
∎ Calibrate and troubleshoot lab equipment to ensure accurate results.
∎ Record, analyze, and document test results for internal and external reporting.
∎ Maintain accurate documentation for audits and certifications.
∎ Assist in the development of new cement formulations and quality improvement initiatives.
∎ Perform trial tests for alternative raw materials or fuels (e.g., fly ash, slag, or alternative fuels).
∎ W/C ratio with mix design cement marsh funnel test knowledge as per ASTM and EN.
∎ HFO and Coal test knowledge as per ASTM and EN.
