Job Summary
The Ward Master is responsible for the day-to-day non-clinical operations of hospital wards. The role involves coordinating administrative, logistical, and housekeeping activities to ensure a clean, safe, organized, and patient-friendly environment. The Ward Master supports nursing and medical teams by managing ward resources, supervising support staff, and facilitating patient care processes.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise and coordinate peons, cleaners, patient care assistants (PCAs), and other support personnel.
Ensure patient beds are properly maintained, cleaned, and equipped.
Monitor the availability of essential supplies including linen, toiletries, oxygen cylinders, and other consumables.
Maintain records related to linen distribution, medical waste disposal, and ward equipment usage.
Coordinate with housekeeping, maintenance, and biomedical departments for timely repairs and services.
Assist in patient shifting and discharge processes under nursing supervision.
Ensure compliance with hospital rules regarding visitors, cleanliness, and ward discipline.
Support nursing and medical staff in maintaining a safe, respectful, and calm ward environment.
Report incidents, unusual activities, or complaints to the concerned authority.
Maintain inventory and minimize wastage or misuse of hospital resources.
