Diploma / B.Sc. in Nursing.
Must have valid RN certification.
Responsibilities & Context:
Prepare the operation theatre before operation.
Check and confirm of sterilization of surgical instruments and equipment.
Verify patient identity, consent and pre-operative checklist.
Assist in positioning the patient on the operating table.
Assist surgeons and anesthetists during the operation.
Monitor patient’s condition during the procedure.
Provide immediate post-operative care and shift patient to critical care unit if necessary with complete handover.
Handle and label specimens properly for laboratory testing.
Maintain operation notes, OT registers and patient records.
Ensure availability of emergency drugs, blood and surgical instruments.
Report equipment malfunction or shortage of supplies to OT In-charge.
Ensure proper disposal of biomedical waste.
Follow infection control and safety protocols as per hospital policy.
Participate in meetings, training, drills etc.
Maintain patient confidentiality and professional ethics.
Work in coordination with doctors, anesthetists, technicians and other nurses.
