Responsibilities & Context:

Patient Care & Clinical Duties

• Outpatient Department (OPD): Examine patients, diagnose common and acute illnesses, and prescribe rational medical treatments.

• Ward Rounds & Admissions: Conduct regular rounds for in-patients, take detailed medical histories, perform physical examinations, and document progress notes in case sheets.

• Investigations & Diagnostics: Order relevant laboratory tests, X-rays, and scans, and interpret the results to guide treatment plans.

• Minor Procedures: Perform minor clinical interventions such as wound dressings, suturing, injections, and catheterizations.

• Specialist Referrals: Identify complex, critical, or specialized cases and coordinate timely referrals to senior consultants or higher-level care.

2. Emergency & 24/7 Coverage

• Emergency Response: Provide immediate first-line resuscitation, triage, and stabilization for emergency and trauma patients in the ER.

• Shift Management: Maintain continuous coverage through rotational shifts (morning, evening, and night) and coordinate smoothly with incoming duty teams.

3. Preventive & Public Health Tasks

• Immunization & Screening: Supervise vaccination schedules, health check-ups, and preventive screening programs.

• Patient Counseling: Educate patients and families on medication compliance, disease prevention, nutrition, and lifestyle modifications.

4. Administrative & Compliance Duties

• Medical Recordkeeping: Maintain accurate, confidential, and up-to-date patient files, prescription logs, and discharge summaries.

• Team Coordination: Collaborate closely with nursing staff, pharmacists, and diagnostic technicians to ensure seamless hospital operations.

• Protocol Adherence: Follow hospital safety standards, infection control guidelines, and local health regulations.
