• Minimum 2–3 years of experience in Community Mobilization, WASH, Health & Nutrition programs, or Entrepreneurship Development.

• Strong knowledge and skills in facilitating trainings, meetings, and workshops at the community and union levels.

• Willingness to spend significant time in the field.

• Proficiency in MS Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

• Good understanding of gender equity and protection issues.

• Ability to perform any other tasks assigned by the supervisor/management



Responsibilities & Context:

Eco-Social Development Organization (ESDO) started its journey in 1988 with a noble vision to stand in solidarity with the poor and marginalized. Being a peoples' centered organization, ESDO envisioned for a society which will be free from inequality and injustice, a society where no child will cry from hunger and no life will be ruined by poverty. Near about three decades of relentless efforts to make this happen, ESDO has embraced new grounds and opened up new horizons to help the disadvantaged and vulnerable people to bring meaningful and lasting changes in their lives. During this long span, ESDO has adapted with the changing situation and provided the most time-bound services especially for the poor and disadvantaged. A community focused and people centered approach has been adapted by ESDO while consideration was given to the national policy and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as its guiding principle. ESDO is one of the most dynamic organizations expanding its development interventions across 408 upazila’s under 53 districts of Bangladesh covering over12 million poor and vulnerable people.

In partnership with Max Foundation Bangladesh, ESDO has been implementing the Healthy Village in Urban (HVU) Programme in Lalmonirhat District since November 2022.

ESDO is now inviting applications from qualified and interested candidates for this position.

Job Responsibilities:

• Build rapport with community members and Union Parishad/Municipality officials.

• Conduct needs assessments for the Healthy Village in Urban (HVU) Program in Lalmonirhat, including household surveys and other assessments.

• Manage and oversee the performance and capacity-building of Community Business Promoters (CBPs).

• Conduct Community Support Group (CSG) meetings and Key Informant Interviews (KIIs) in consultation with the Manager.

• Develop union-based work plans for community mobilization.

• Organize trainings, meetings, and workshops at union/municipality levels on WASH, Health, and Nutrition activities.

• Collect household-level data on health, sanitation, and gardening issues.

• Prepare and submit regular reports, meeting minutes, and documentation to the line manager.

• Communicate effectively with team members to ensure projects and tasks remain on schedule.

• Facilitate awareness-raising sessions at the community and union levels.

• Organize community events in line with project interventions.

• Work closely with relevant committees in Union Parishads to strengthen the community health system.

• Maintain continuous communication with local government representatives.

• Participate in regular team meetings to discuss progress and share learning.

• Form courtyard groups with mothers and conduct regular courtyard sessions.

• Facilitate the formation of Community Support Groups (CSGs) at ward, union, and municipality levels.

• Advocate for and support the installation and use of hygienic latrines and handwashing basins at the household level.

• Record children’s weight, height, and growth monitoring data (0–5 years) using GMP cards.

• Promote regular handwashing practices and ensure proper use of household basins.

• Ensure safe drinking water consumption and support the establishment of household vegetable gardens.

• Provide ANC and PNC counseling to pregnant and postpartum mothers.

• Build rapport and trust with sanitation and hygiene entrepreneurs, sweepers, and other stakeholders to strengthen linkages.

• Identify strong success stories and develop quality content for management and donors.

• Supervise and oversee the work of frontline staff.

• Ensure the safety and protection of all team members from harm, abuse, neglect, harassment, and exploitation, in alignment with safeguarding policies.

• Promote and enforce safeguarding policies and standards in all activities.

• Follow safeguarding reporting procedures in case of any reportable incidents, and encourage others to do the same.

• Perform any other tasks as assigned by the authority.
