Job Context:
∎ iDE-B is looking for a skilled and ambitious professional for its Promotion of Sanitation Marketing (PSM) project under WASH portfolio. The project aims to increase and more equitable utilizations of quality sanitation facilities and services, resulting in better health conditions & wellbeing.
∎ The Technical Specialist-Hygiene is responsible for leading the design, implementation and maintenance of the hygiene component including Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) of the Promotion of Sanitation Marketing (PSM) project in collaborating with a range of internal and external stakeholders. The TS-Hygiene must develop working relationships with the field-based market actors like micro entrepreneurs, sales agents, lead firms, relevant govt. officials, wider project field team, project management team and institutional technical teams to ensure the delivery of the hygiene messaging along with products and services towards last mile consumers.
∎ To develop an effective and responsive hygiene messaging and product /services facilitation, the TS-Hygiene will be responsible for developing the capacity of the stakeholder/market actors, field team, to develop a clear understanding of the aims of the hygiene system across the working areas of the PSM project (host community people of Cox`s bazar district). The TS-Hygiene is primarily responsible for the tasks and activities described below under project Output-1: Vulnerable children, adolescent girls, women and their families are aware of public health risk related to WASH and practice key hygiene behaviors including hand washing, safe excreta disposal, drinking safe water, use of sanitary latrines and menstrual hygiene management.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ The responsibilities of the Technical Specialist-Hygiene (Female) include but are not limited to the descriptions below.
∎ Set and define hygiene including MHM promotion strategy and goals with specific and deliverable objectives.
∎ Lead to plan, manage and coordinate hygiene/MHM promotion meetings, workshops, trainings, distributions networks to make sure proper messaging and required products and services for the last mile BoP consumers.
∎ Capacity building of staff and relevant market actors/stakeholders by developing thematic Hygiene Promotion Guidelines, working plans, systematic frameworks, participatory approaches and methodologies and timely reporting.
∎ Take lead to make sure required coordination with the counterpart, donor and other wide range stakeholders to share the findings of the market based hygiene/MHM promotion activities after following standard procedures to mainstreaming ownership, responsive and sustained hygiene promotion in project implementation.
∎ Engage appropriate market partners/private sector lead firms to develop new design/prototype of the hygiene products especially for MHM and make sure long run business strategy for the sustainability of the PSM CXB project.
∎ Take lead to design and promote BCC materials of hygiene promotion to make sure wide range of outreach/targeted population.
∎ Monitor progress of the taken initiatives and provide regular updates to the senior management team and lead partner to deliver high quality and measurable outcomes.

∎ A successful Technical Specialist-Hygiene (Female) will have the following skills and experience and will be comfortable with the following conditions:
∎ Work Experience:
∎ At least 5 years of experience working in development sector. Preference will be given to prior work experiences in WASH sectors.
∎ Proven technical skills in the hygiene promotion or similar activities in rural areas of Bangladesh particularly Cox's bazar district.
∎ Experience working with international donors
∎ Familiarity and experience with project management concepts such as Logical Frameworks, Impact Logic or Results Chains.
∎ Considerable understanding of rural markets, trading relationships, and rural service provision.
∎ Knowledge on the role of the private sector, government and civil society/NGOs in creating an effective service market;
∎ Experience of value chain approaches to market development and sub-sector analysis
∎ Personal Skills:
∎ Undertake additional tasks subject to workload and skill sets such as photography, cross-project trainings and evaluations
∎ Energetic and focused approach to sales coaching and mentoring.
∎ Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
∎ Ability to work with various national and international team members and flexibility to adapt to different work conditions.
∎ Ability to interact and collaborate with a broad range of public and private sector and NGO partners
∎ Physical and Language Skills:
∎ Ability to travel and undertake fieldwork in rural contexts
∎ Strong written and oral communication skills in English, including ability to present coherent and convincing messages to different audiences.
∎ Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, e-mail and the internet
∎ Familiarity with internet based software systems such as Google Apps.
∎ Other Information and Conditions:
∎ The position would be the regular employment of iDE in Bangladesh based in Cox's bazar.
∎ iDE reserves the right to terminate this agreement at any time with the consultation of the employee as per HR policy
∎ Ensure Mandates and Code of Conduct of the organization.
∎ Actively learn and develop skills related to market based approach to make sure WASH solution for the BoP consumers.
∎ Maintain use of online platforms for sharing reports, documents and data
∎ Represent iDE at external events and meetings as agreed with supervisor.
