Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Assisting the Head of Fleet Management in matters relating to short- and long-term Strategic Planning of the Fleet Management Department.
∎ Provided support and assistance in a subordinate role to the senior staff of Fleet Management at Friendship, contributing to all activities and record-keeping related to the floating hospital ships.
∎ Responsible for all technical records and reports of the ships in liaison with Fleet Management Department personnel.
∎ Responsible for making liaison with the Department of Shipping & other third parties like insurance for renewal of registration/survey/insurance documents.
∎ He will be responsible and accountable to the Senior Fleet Engineer/Fleet Engineer/Assistant Fleet Engineer of the Fleet Management Department in HO for his duties and performance.
∎ Simultaneously responsible and reportable to the Head of the Department of Fleet Management.
∎ He shall assist the head of Fleet Management in all matters relating to Class and other surveys and inspections of the Department of Shipping/Mercantile Marine for all the floating hospital ships of Friendship and maintain records of surveys/inspection/insurance and their statements, certificates, due dates, etc. and related works as assigned to him.
∎ He shall directly assist the Head of Fleet Management in matters relating to the short and long-term Strategic Plan of Friendship in respect of the Fleet Management Department and shall be responsible for the inputs relating to the Strategic Plan Reporting of the Department for review and submission by the Technical Consultant/Advisor/Director.
∎ He shall be responsible for keeping the Head of the Department of Fleet Management informed about the status of surveys and forthcoming surveys/inspections at least 03 months before the due dates of the survey/inspection.
∎ When required, he shall carry out Technical Inspection of the hospital ships and the respective associated ancillary boats and report to his superiors by filling out the technical inspection report.
∎ If required, he shall attend the floating hospital ships of Friendship for any kind of emergency, major breakdown/s or repair, docking, renovation, etc. as directed or delegated by his superiors in the Department.
∎ He shall maintain liaison with the Administrator and/or Master of all the floating hospital ships of Friendship regarding the Administration of the ship and in matters relating to the supply of stores, spares, fuel, lubricants, etc. for the ships.
∎ He shall maintain forms for reporting on machinery performance, running hours, repair, engine log abstract, etc., and shall carry out analysis of performance, costs, etc., and shall make amendments to reporting forms, etc. as required and shall also report to superiors when abnormality and/or anomaly is observed.
∎ He shall maintain records for all fuel and lubricating oil supply, consumption, etc., and shall carry out consumption trend analysis and report to superiors when abnormality and/or anomaly is observed.
∎ Receives and review ship requisitions for fuel. lubricants, consumables, spares and equipment, recommends quantities and forwards them to superiors for approval.
∎ He shall liaise with the Supply & Procurement Department for timely and correct supply of requisitioned items & maintain records for respective ship ·
∎ He shall keep records of each PR issued per ship by the Fleet Management Department, including associated costs for spares, stores, etc. for budgetary control and review·
∎ He shall assist the Supply & Procurement Department with the purchase of specialized items for the ships when required.
∎ He shall review the six-monthly inventory of consumable and spares conducted by the Administrator, maintain records and report any abnormality to his superior/s.
∎ He shall maintain the Department’s files and ensuring traceability of filed documents.
∎ He shall periodically monitor the condition, performance, and operability of all trawlers, speed boats, Cabin speed boats, outboard engines, etc. of all the floating hospital ships.
∎ He can be delegated to undertake any other additional duty as required.
∎ He will always be required to observe and uphold Friendship’s Code of Ethics, Policies & Guidelines, Rules & Regulations, and Personnel Confidentiality Policies.
