∎ Bachelor of Social Science (BSS) in Mass Communication Journalism
∎ Post Graduation (preferably in Journalism or English)
Experience Requirements:
∎ At least 2 year(s)
∎ The applicants should have experience in the following area(s):
Copy writing/ Script Writing, News editor
∎ The applicants should have experience in the following business area(s):
Newspaper/Magazine, Online Newspaper/ News Portal
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Edit copy, written by reporters or features writers, to remove spelling mistakes and grammatical errors.
∎ Rewriting material so that it flows or reads better and adheres to the house style.
∎ Write headlines, picture captions and story summaries.
∎ Ensure that a story fits a particular word count by cutting or expanding the material as necessary.
∎ Write headlines that capture the essence of the story or are clever or amusing.
∎ Maintain communication with reporters, journalists and editors.
∎ Check facts and stories to ensure they are accurate, adhere to copyright laws, are not libelous or go against the publication's policy.
∎ Crop photos and decide where to use them for best effect and writing picture captions.
∎ Work on a page plan to ensure that the right stories appear in the correct place.
∎ Ensure that stories are the right length and correctly placed on pages.
∎ Follow the Code of Conduct of Newsroom.
