Responsibilities & Context
Responsibilities:
To conducts organic synthesis, optimizes chemical routes to minimize costs (COGs), and develops scalable, patent-compliant manufacturing processes. To bridge the gap between lab-scale discovery and commercial production.
Core responsibilities:
Process Research & Development
Literature & Patent Searches: Extensively review existing research and proposed Routes of Synthesis (ROS) for new APIs to ensure non-infringement on global patents.
Laboratory Experimentation: Plan and safely execute day-to-day organic and inorganic synthesis of target pharmaceutical substances in the R&D laboratory.
Optimization: Modify and refine synthetic methods to maximize yield, improve product purity, and reduce raw material consumption.
Impurity Profiling: Identify, track, and develop methods to control and remove process-related impurities and degradation products.
Data Analysis & Documentation
Analytical Interpretation: Review and interpret complex data from instruments such as NMR, Mass Spectrometry, and HPLC to determine the chemical structures of intermediates and final APIs.
Batch Records: Maintain detailed laboratory notebooks, record consumption calculations, and write technical reports in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
SOP Development: Draft Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and analytical or process protocols for lab procedures.
Technology Transfer & Compliance
Scale-Up Support: Prepare technical documents and provide hands-on support to transfer validated laboratory processes to pilot plants and full-scale commercial manufacturing.
Regulatory Alignment: Ensure synthesis pathways, raw material sourcing, and waste management adhere to the strict guidelines of both the Directorate General of Drug Administration (DGDA) and international regulatory bodies (e.g., FDA, EMA).
Safety Management: Enforce strict chemical safety guidelines and maintain a compliant laboratory environment.
