Responsibilities & Context:

Core Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing day-to-day accounting operations:
  • This includes managing accounts payable/receivable, general ledger entries, and bank reconciliations.
  •  Financial reporting and analysis: Preparing accurate and timely financial statements (balance sheets, income statements, etc.) and analyzing financial data to provide insights for management. 
  • Ensuring compliance: Ensuring adherence to financial regulations, company policies, and accounting standards (e.g., GAAP). 
  • Budgeting and forecasting: Assisting in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, and monitoring expenditures against budgets. 
  • Auditing and internal controls: Coordinating with internal and external auditors during audits, and implementing and maintaining internal financial controls. 
  • Supervising staff: May supervise junior accounting staff, providing guidance and support. 
  • Tax and regulatory compliance: Managing tax-related matters, including VAT, TDS, and income tax, and ensuring timely filing of returns.
  •  Inventory management and cost accounting: May be involved in product costing, landed costing, and profitability calculations, particularly in the context of pharmaceutical manufacturing.
  • ERP system management: Working with ERP systems for accounting and financial transactions. 
  • Maintaining financial records: Ensuring proper filing and maintenance of all financial documents, invoices, and supporting materials. 
  • Communication and reporting: Preparing regular reports (monthly, quarterly, annually) on financial performance and communicating findings to management. 
  • Specific to the Pharmaceutical Industry: Product costing and profitability analysis: Understanding the cost of drug development, manufacturing, and distribution, and analyzing product profitability. Regulatory compliance specific to pharmaceuticals: Ensuring adherence to regulations related to drug pricing, sales, and distribution. 
  • Working with specialized software: May be required to use specific software for accounting, inventory management, or regulatory reporting within the pharmaceutical industry.
  •  Liaison with regulatory bodies: May be involved in interactions with regulatory agencies related to financial mat
