Experience:
Diploma in Child Health (DCH).
Must have valid BMDC registration.

1. Clinical Care & Patient Management:
Provide expert inpatient and outpatient consultative services within the designated sub-specialty (e.g., Pediatric Gastroenterology, Pediatric Endocrinology, Pediatric Pulmonology, etc.).
Diagnose and manage a wide range of complex and chronic pediatric conditions specific to the sub-specialty.
Perform specialized procedures commensurate with the sub-specialty (e.g., echocardiography for a cardiologist, endoscopies for a gastroenterologist, EEG interpretation for a neurologist).
Develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive, evidence-based treatment plans for patients.
Provide 24/7 consultative support for urgent and emergent sub-specialty cases as required by the department`s on-call schedule.
2. Multidisciplinary Collaboration & Leadership:
Act as a primary consultant for General Pediatricians and other specialists within the hospital.
Lead or actively participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and case conferences.
Collaborate closely with nursing staff, allied health professionals (therapists, dietitians, social workers), and other specialists to ensure integrated patient care.
Provide clinical guidance and supervision to Junior Medical Officers and Residents rotating through the sub-specialty service.
3. Teaching & Education:
Participate in the teaching and training of medical students, residents, and junior doctors.
Contribute to the department`s continuing medical education (CME) programs for nursing and medical staff.
Stay abreast of the latest advancements in the sub-specialty and disseminate knowledge to the team.
4. Administrative & Quality Improvement:
Maintain accurate, timely, and comprehensive electronic medical records.
Participate in clinical audits, morbidity and mortality meetings, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient safety and outcomes.
Uphold and contribute to the development of clinical protocols and pathways within the sub-specialty.
Assist in the strategic planning and development of the sub-specialty service line.
5. On-Call Requirements
This position requires participation in the specialist on-call roster for the Pediatrics Department to provide expert consultation for emergencies.
The frequency and structure of the on-call schedule will be determined by departmental needs.
