Job Context:
∎ World Vision is seeking a Social Behavior Change (SBC) and Adolescent Engagement Advisor for an anticipated five-year project in Bangladesh titled, "Adolescent Health Activity," which is funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). The purpose of the program is to accelerate reductions in adolescent marriage and childbearing by addressing the root causes of these practices at each level of the socio-ecological framework with particular focus on supporting the transition of boys and girls ages 10 to 14. The program`s key objectives include 1) increase the agency of boys and girls to exercise their rights to delay marriage and early childbearing; 2) strengthen social support systems to delay marriage and early childbearing; 3) strengthen essential and equitable services for adolescents and their families; and 4) institutionalize effective solutions.
∎ The SBC and Adolescent Engagement Advisor will lead the design and implementation of strategic SBC approaches and communications to improve agency of very young adolescents (VYA) ages 10 to 14 to mitigate equity gaps and address social norms aimed at reducing early child marriage and childbearing. The individual will be responsible for providing expert guidance and capacity building of project staff and partners to design, implement and monitor SBC strategies to empower diverse marginalized populations of VYA; reduce gender inequities; and transform social norms at household and community levels to reduce early child marriage and childbearing in the Divisions of Dhaka, Chittagong, Rajishahi, and Rangpur. This role will work closely with the Chief of Party; Deputy Chief of Party; the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Director; and Community Engagement Advisor.
∎ Recruitment is contingent upon successful award of the project. Bangladeshi national candidates and females are highly encouraged to apply. Selection of final applicant is subject to USAID approval. The project is anticipated to begin in the last quarter of 2023.
∎ Location of position: Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Provide expert adolescent SBC guidance and technical oversight to achieve sustainable reductions in child marriage and childbearing, including assisting with the design of strategies and project work plans.
∎ Stay abreast of new policy recommendations, emerging evidence, best practices, technical and programmatic developments, and data sources in SBC to reduce early child marriage and childbearing.
∎ Review and develop recommendations for SBC programming.
∎ Cultivate and strengthen strategic partnerships and collaborative relationships with all key stakeholders, including government officials, project partners, other implementing agencies, and related institutions.
∎ Contribute to a learning environment for effective program delivery and results, including ensuring effective program monitoring frameworks, internal/external reporting of SBC-related impacts, and promoting uptake of positive behaviors that reduce early marriage and childbearing across project activities.
∎ Lead the development, technical writing, and dissemination of relevant technical briefs and knowledge products.
∎ Articulate key SBC program innovations, learning priorities, and community mobilization approaches.
∎ Contribute to program reports, including drafting and reviewing technical sections.
∎ Conceptualize, convene, and present at relevant technical consultations, webinars, and other virtual or in-person engagements internally and externally.
∎ Support virtual and onsite visits to monitor the adolescent SBC field activities, as needed.
∎ Facilitate and contribute to relevant internal and external communities of practice.
∎ Support project staff by creating and maintaining a work environment that promotes teamwork, trust, mutual respect, and empowers staff to take responsibility.
∎ Engage in other tasks that contribute to meeting SBCC targets and goals.
∎ Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.

Additional Requirements:
∎ Age at least 30 years
∎ Both males and females are allowed to apply
∎ At least 6 years' experience in designing, planning, implementing, and evaluating SBC interventions for programs serving VYA in Bangladesh/South Asian contexts with similar complexity and scope is required.
∎ Proven track record of success in designing and implementing SBC strategies for donor-funded, large development projects required. Experience with USAID-funded programs preferred.
∎ Ability to develop relationships with local partners, donors, and other stakeholders to implement effective SBC strategies.
∎ Demonstrated innovations and successes in conducting capacity building for program staff, partners, and key stakeholders.
∎ Formal training in and demonstrated understanding of theories and frameworks relating to individual behavior change and broader social responses, the evidence base for social and behavioral/communication interventions and best practices, and familiarity with the current SBC and research and evaluation literature.
∎ Experience in programming related to reducing early child marriage and childbearing is highly desirable.
∎ Demonstrated ability to deliver results and meet all donor deliverables.
∎ Excellent organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to lead and work effectively in diverse teams.
∎ Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical, managerial, or operational challenges and evaluation options based on relevant information, resources, well-rounded experience, and knowledge.
∎ Demonstrated ability to work effectively with government representatives, private sector entities, local community organizations, donors, and other stakeholders.
∎ Excellent communication and presentation skills, including ability to communicate complex technical or policy issues simply and clearly.
∎ Strong English communication skills, both oral and written.
∎ Experience living and working in Bangladesh.
∎ Strong ability to build relationships cross-culturally.
∎ Domestic and international travel, up to 30% of the time.
∎ Language: Fluency in English required and Bangla a plus.
