Job Context:
∎ The Danish Refugee Council (DRC), one of the world`s leading NGOs, with a focus on responding to displacement, have been registered in Bangladesh since 2013. In 2017, in response to the Rohingya influx, DRC launched an integrated program of support to the government in site management, shelter/NFI and protection. In 2018 and 2019 DRC implemented aid projects in support of the host communities most affected by the influx of refugees. As a key part of this, DRC opened a main office in Cox`s Bazar, and a support/liaison office in Dhaka.
∎ POSITION PROFILE
∎ Overall purpose of the role:
∎ The Community Infrastructure Officer, will support the Community Infrastructure Team Leader in measuring assessing, designing of various community infrastructures, and facilities, such as access roads, bridges, stairs, soil retentions, drainage systems, etc. The officer will also be responsible of the supervision of the selected workforce for ongoing works and that the works are being carried out according to design and specifications in a timely manner. He/she will be responsible that basic safety measures are taken and followed during construction. He/she will be responsible of keeping track of worker attendance sheet and materials consumption by using the daily log report.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Support of Community Infrastructure Team Leader includes:
∎ Undertaking technical assessments of requested infrastructure construction works;
∎ Preparing engineering design and estimate according to agreed standards;
∎ Registering and engaging local laborers to construct infrastructure within camp settings;
∎ Making sure that safety measures are in place and followed during construction.
∎ Maintain communication with the community during construction and making sure that the works fit the community needs.
∎ Facilitate Cash for Work (CfW) payment distribution
∎ Assessing the sustainability and environmental impact of projects;
∎ Report on a daily, weekly and monthly basis as required by the line manager;
∎ Any other duties as agreed with the Site Operations Manager or relevant line manager.
Additional Requirements:
∎ At least 3 years construction management experience (experience of working in Rohingya camp is preferable);
∎ Knowledge in using AutoCAD, Microsoft Office (Excel, Power Point, Word);
∎ The ability to think methodically and to manage projects using strong problem-solving skills;
∎ Ability to work to deadlines and within budgets;
∎ The ability to take the initiative and work independently as well work as a team player
∎ Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
∎ Flexibility and capacity of adaptation to a changing working environment;
∎ Willingness to live and work in a challenging environment with limited resources;
∎ Commitment to DRC's overall aims and policies and experience of promoting gender equity and ensuring vulnerable people's needs are met.
