Job Responsibilities:
∎ Description
∎ The shadow teacher has a supportive role in a primary Classroom focused on student(s) with specific learning needs. The shadow teacher works together with the Advancement Centre Teacher and homeroom teacher to create, uphold and stimulate a learning environment that ensures the student to learn and grow both academically and socially. The shadow teacher has different roles, duties and responsibilities and has to be mindful of all those roles.
∎ General responsibilities
∎ Assist in ensuring a physically and emotionally safe environment for students through positive framing, kind communication with students and adults, predictability and consistent routines;
∎ Use classroom and behavioral management strategies that are positive, structured, consistent, respectful and responsive to student needs to build a safe, orderly, inclusive and positive classroom community, as initiated and outlined by the Primary Teacher;
∎ Assist and contribute to an effective approach to behavior management, time management, classroom organization and appearance, planning, teaching, and monitoring learning as initiated and outlined by the Primary Teacher;
∎ Support students in flexible groups whilst recognising and responding to their individual needs;
∎ Promotes the inclusion and acceptance of all students within the classroom; ?
∎ Encourages students to interact and work cooperatively with others and engages all students in activities;?
∎ Promotes independence and employs strategies to recognise and reward achievement of self-reliance as initiated and outlined by the Primary Teacher.
∎ Curriculum related responsibilities
∎ Assist in planning units of inquiry and lessons by following IB curriculum framework collaboratively with the Primary Teacher, PYP coordinator, specialist teachers and Advancement Centre teachers;
∎ Assist in the execution of daily Math lessons using the "My Pals are here" curriculum, based on the Singapore Math method of working as initiated and outlined by the Primary Teacher;
∎ Assist in the execution of daily Reading and Writing lessons using the The Reading and Writing Workshop model as initiated and outlined by the Primary Teacher;
∎ Write and implement learning objectives that are challenging and measurable;
∎ Other responsibilities
∎ Have an active role in the wider curriculum, participating in extracurricular activities and school trips and extension activities as necessary;
∎ Be responsible for communicating effectively with external stakeholders as parents on the individual progress of students through all means used at ISD. This includes being responsible for: report cards, Seesaw messages, parent meetings upon school's or parents' request;
∎ Taking individual or groups of students to Specialist lessons as necessary;
∎ Take on active supervision during the scheduled duties that are allocated to the teacher;
∎ To maintain confidentiality of privileged information about students, faculty members and administration;
∎ Maintain appropriate and ongoing displays of student work;
∎ Help organise and manage an appropriate learning environment and resources?;
∎ Read and properly use the IB guidelines for PYP.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Must have good communication skill in English Language for both written and oral
Salary: Tk. 25000 - 30000 (Monthly)
