Job Context:
∎ The Senior Technical Specialist-Private Sector Engagement will support CSISA-MEA project`s activities in accelerating new business opportunities for domestic and US agricultural machinery manufacturers, suppliers, and light engineering firms in the Bangladesh agricultural machinery sector. S/he will play a multifaceted role in the areas of private sector engagement with lead firms in the agricultural manufacturing/machinery sphere and micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the light engineering sector.
∎ Reporting Line: Team Leader

Job Responsibilities:
∎ The Senior Technical Specialist will be responsible for providing technical inputs on the design of market-based interventions and activities through joint-venture agreements in the following broad areas:
∎ Assembling/manufacturing/retailing/distribution of agricultural machinery by national and international agricultural machinery private companies
∎ Improvement in the competitiveness of MSMEs in the light engineering sector and ability to access finance
∎ Lead Firm Engagement:
∎ Support implementation of the project's overall private sector engagement strategy, including building and managing partnerships
∎ Facilitate the development of joint venture agreements with private sector partners
∎ Negotiate budgets with lead firms and manage proper allocation and utilization of funds
∎ Manage the implementation of the agreements with lead firms and monitor and report on results using market system indicators
∎ Light Engineering Engagement:
∎ Facilitate the development of local-level agreements with MSMEs in the light engineering sector
∎ Manage the implementation of the agreements with lead firms and monitor and report on results using market system indicators
∎ Support the design of support packages for the MSMEs in the areas of business and financial management
∎ Link foundries/small firms in the light engineering sector as suppliers for lead firms
∎ Technical and Implementation Support:
∎ Provide technical guidance and support to field teams in the implementation of the above activities in Jashore, Bogura, and Cox's Bazar as and when required, ensuring that a market system approach is maintained and followed
∎ Manage budgets for assigned interventions and ensure efficient allocation of funding
∎ Spearhead the preparation of periodic progress reports, technical briefs, case studies, success stories, and other communication materials
∎ Work closely with iDE's Evidence & Analytics unit to periodically review and refine the project's results chain and indicators in order to ensure that the project is capturing market system change
∎ Liaise with iDE Global headquarters program support team as needed

Additional Requirements:
∎ Work Experience & knowledge:
∎ At least 4-5 years of experience in international development with a focus on private sector engagement and stakeholder management
∎ Proven, practical experience with market systems development
∎ Hands on experience of working in donor funded project specially experience of working in USAID funded project will get preference
∎ Personal Skills:
∎ Ability to work with team members and flexibility to adapt to different work conditions
∎ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
∎ Proven interpersonal and intercultural skills, including flexibility and sensitivity
∎ Demonstrate awareness and sensitivity to gender diversity
∎ Undertake additional tasks subject to workload and skill sets such as business development, cross-project training and evaluations
∎ Ability to interact and collaborate with a broad range of public and private sector and NGO partners
∎ Physical ability and proficiency:
∎ Ability to travel and undertake fieldwork in rural contexts
∎ Written and oral communication skills in English, including the ability to present coherent and convincing messages to different audiences
∎ Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Apps
