Skills Required: Additional Requirements: Asking patients` histories, using specialized Medication & equipment to determine the wound type, and determining the best mode of treatment
Monitoring patients` healing processes and making necessary adjustments to their treatment plans.
Ensure the highest standards of wound care services are being delivered.
An adequate assessment of the patient`s condition, based on the history and physical examination.
Verifying complex diagnoses and facilitating the treatment management plan.
Ensuring compliance of health care regulations and safety standards.
Supervising and assigning duties to nurses.
Monitoring to ensure consistent and accurate medical record-keeping practices.
Advising, ordering, performing and interpreting tests.
Other administrative job are assigned by the authority.
Responsibilities & Context: Supervision of Clinical Staff
- Oversee the daily activities of junior doctors, medical officers, and nursing staff.
- Ensure proper adherence to clinical protocols and safety procedures.
Patient Examination & Diagnosis
- Perform in-depth ophthalmic examinations.
- Diagnose and manage eye diseases such as cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, etc.
Treatment & Surgical Assistance
- Prescribe appropriate treatment plans including medications or therapies.
- Assist or lead minor surgical procedures when needed.
Outpatient Department (OPD) Management
- Supervise patient flow, reduce waiting time, and ensure efficient OPD operations.
- Ensure quality patient care and proper record maintenance.
Emergency Response
- Attend to emergency eye cases and coordinate timely intervention or referral.
- Make decisions on critical or vision-threatening conditions.
Training and Mentorship
- Train and mentor junior doctors, interns, and medical students.
- Conduct clinical discussions and workshops to enhance knowledge and skills.
Patient Counseling & Education
- Explain diagnoses, procedures, and treatment options to patients and their families.
- Provide guidance on post-operative care and preventive eye health.
Medical Record Management
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient histories, procedures, and treatments.
- Maintain confidentiality and compliance with medical laws.
Collaboration with Other Departments
- Coordinate with diagnostic, surgical, pharmacy, and administrative departments.
- Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and patient case reviews.
Quality Control & Audit
- Participate in internal audits, patient feedback analysis, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Ensure the hospital follows standards of care as per national/international ophthalmology guidelines.
