Responsibilities & Context:

Job Summary:

The Senior Medical Officer is responsible for providing advanced clinical care to patients, supervising junior doctors, and supporting hospital departments in delivering high-quality medical services. The SMO plays a key role in managing emergency and routine patient care, coordinating with consultants, and ensuring clinical protocols are followed.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and manage critically ill patients, referring to consultants as needed.

  • Supervise, mentor, and guide Medical Officers in their duties.

  • Ensure accurate documentation of patient records, prescriptions, and reports.

  • Collaborate with nursing staff, diagnostic departments, and allied healthcare teams to ensure coordinated care.

  • Participate in medical audits, quality control, and hospital infection control activities.

  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, standard treatment guidelines, and ethical practices.

  • Attend medical emergencies and assist in procedures when required.

  • Conduct and participate in clinical meetings, training, and departmental reviews.

  • Maintain updated knowledge of current medical guidelines and treatment advancements.
