Occupational Safety & Health Management (OSHM).
Certification on the 6-month long “Fire Safety Manager” course from Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defense (BFSCD) or Alliance / Accord / Nirapon is mandatory.
Relevant safety certifications (Certified Fire Protection Specialist – CFPS, NFPA, etc.) are preferred.
Certifications in Occupational Safety and Health (e.g., NEBOSH IGC, NEBOSH Diploma, IOSH, ISO 45001) are additional advantages.
Strong knowledge of Bangladesh Labor Rules, DIFE, Fire Prevention and Extinction Act, Bangladesh National Building Code (BNBC) Fire Safety local safety regulations, international standards (e.g. NFPA codes) and other best practices.
Experience in risk assessment, safety audits, and report preparation.
Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) with strong communication skills, especially in English.
Develop and maintain fire detection, protection and notification systems in collaboration with the Maintenance and Process departments.
Ensure all fire safety equipment and systems are inspected, maintained and function effectively at all times.
Strengthen the skillset of the Emergency Response Team (firefighters, rescuers, first aiders, wardens) through continuous training, guidance and supervision.
Lead firefighting teams with a teamwork-oriented approach and ensure operational readiness of the fire station with proper logistics and resources.
Procure and arrange firefighting, rescue, and emergency equipment as per relevant quality and safety standards.
Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure the availability of additional emergency aids such as illuminated exit signs, emergency lighting, aisle markings and equipment boxes.
Develop and implement an effective emergency communication system, including voice and alarm protocols.
Design and update floor evacuation maps, emergency routes, and communication plans to meet audit and compliance requirements.
Conduct fire safety awareness programs through posters, signage, and internal campaigns (e.g., anti-smoking and ATEX compliance).
Design and deliver fire safety training modules, including hands-on sessions for specialized firefighting equipment.
Conduct periodic fire audits and gap assessments, prepare corrective action plans and ensure timely closure.
Plan and execute monthly fire and evacuation mock drills with documented improvement actions.
Investigate fire incidents and near misses to identify root causes and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
Participate in risk assessments, safety reviews, and process safety studies such as PHA/HAZOP, LOPA, ATEX, SIS/SIF validation and QRA.
Implement the Fire Safety Plan, identify system deviations, and support audit processes for renewal of fire licenses and certificates.
Ensure compliance with local legal, regulatory, and lender (e.g., IFC) audit requirements related to fire safety.
Study and apply national and international codes and standards (NFPA, API, ISO, IFC, etc.) to continuously improve fire safety management systems.
Support the Site HSE In-Charge with any new assignments related to occupational health and safety improvement initiatives.
