Job Context:
∎ The International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) is dedicated to reducing poverty and hunger through rice science; improving the health and welfare of rice farmers and consumers; and protecting the rice-growing environment for future generations. ∎ Working with in-country partners, IRRI develops advanced rice varieties that yield more grain and better withstand pests and disease as well as flooding, drought, and other harmful effects of climate change
∎ This position will support the day-to-day research operations of the `Solarizing Agriculture` project in Bangladesh, including administrative tasks, communication with stakeholders and partners, survey design and coding, planning and monitoring survey implementation, data cleaning and high-frequency checks, report writing, team management, and travel. The Research Support Associate will lead efforts on liaising and coordinating with partners like IDCOL, BIDS, and sponsor organizations that are implementing the solar pumps program and maintain regular communication with PIs. In the process, the RA will learn about the study design, team management, efficient communication, planning, and implementation of RCTs, basics of econometrics, and coding for data cleaning and analysis.
∎ The position will be based in Dhaka, Bangladesh and and may only be filled by permanent citizens of Bangladesh.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Planning and organization of (i) events logistics for training/ workshop for enumerators (ii) survey implementation (designing the survey and coding it up, planning travel, assigning responsibilities, setting up data-quality checks) (iii) ensuring adherence to randomization by coordinating with implementers and tracking progress
∎ Monitor the approved project budget, prepare and consolidate budget reports and total cost recovery charges, and manage petty cash requests, disbursements, and liquidations.
∎ Hire, train, and manage a team of enumerators
∎ Ensure timely submission of reports to funders
∎ Maintain the flow of information and appropriate communication by liaising and coordinating with PIs as well as external partners (like the government and implementation partners)
∎ Maintain the flow of information, appropriate communication, and efficient service by constantly liaising and coordinating with other teams/units as well as external partners and collaborators
∎ Assist in grant application writing, IRB application updates
∎ Draft planning documents of all activities (action plans) to keep a record, help with presentations to local partners during the design and planning stage
∎ Provide support in the day-to-day research operations of the project in Bangladesh
∎ Provide administrative and logistics support in coordinating with relevant stakeholders
∎ Survey design and planning
∎ Process information from qualitative work and meetings to contribute to study design
∎ Team management during survey implementation
∎ Data cleaning and preliminary data analysis
∎ Data cleaning and high-frequency checks
∎ Report writing
∎ Perform other relevant tasks assigned by the supervisor from time to time

Additional Requirements:
∎ Basic knowledge of Stata/R
∎ Good oral and written communication skills-able to communicate the status of work regularly
∎ Basic knowledge of RCTs and empirical economics analysis
∎ Good organizational skills
∎ Experience working on RCTs and/or surveying
∎ Knowledge of coding surveys using ODK
∎ Excellent English language skills
