Job Responsibilities:
∎ Provide the vision and strategic direction for key university activity in academic and student administration, student recruitment and admissions, student progress and assessment and employability.
∎ Ensure the University complies with the requirements from a range of statutory and funding bodies.
∎ Serve as secretary to the academic resourcing committee including approving and adjusting budgets. For this purpose, the Registrar will have a strong understanding of academic departments' strategies and activities, as well as CUB's overarching financial objectives.
∎ Develop and implement policies and procedures related to student records, registration, and enrollment, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and institutional policies.
∎ Provides reports on student enrollment, retention, and graduation rates, as well as other relevant statistics to be used by university officials to make decisions regarding academic programs and policies.
∎ Support faculty and staff in matters related to academic policies, procedures, and regulations. Staying up-to-date on best practices and emerging trends in higher education administration, particularly in the areas of student records management, registration, and enrollment.
∎ Provide leadership and supervision to staff members in the registrar's office, including performance management, and professional development. Ensure that staff are properly trained and work is completed accurately and efficiently.
∎ Develop proactive relationships with relevant external stakeholders e.g. UGC, Education Ministry, BIDA etc. Monitor developments within the Higher Education sector ensuring creative solutions are incorporated into strategies / policies / procedures for which the role holder is accountable.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Age at least 35 years
∎ A postgraduate qualification or equivalent
∎ A relevant professional qualification with 15 years of experience in the relevant field
∎ Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills, as well as a deep understanding of the academic policies and procedures of the university
∎ Experience of managing budgets including successful implementation of cost savings and service efficiencies
∎ Strong interpersonal and influencing skills, in relation to all levels of university staff, engagement with high level committees; external representatives, stakeholders and bodies
∎ Strong judgement and effective decision-making skills, including the ability to successfully conclude highly sensitive and confidential negotiations
∎ Experience of resource allocation and planning, often dealing with complex scenarios and requirements
