Main Responsibilities of the Job:
As a member of the Wellness Team, the Psychiatrist will play an assisting role in building and delivering comprehensive mental health care for AUW students. Her key responsibilities in the field of Clinical Care & Patient Support, Collaboration & Coordination, Health Education & Prevention and Administrative Duties includes following:
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care & Patient Support
Assist the Psychiatrist in psychiatric assessments, follow-ups, and treatment plans.
Administer and monitor prescribed medications; observe and document side effects or adverse reactions.
Provide supportive counseling, active listening, and basic psycho education to students and staff.
Monitor patients’ mental status and progress, reporting significant changes promptly to the Psychiatrist/Clinical Psychologist.
Respond to psychiatric emergencies, including de-escalation and crisis support.
Collaboration & Coordination
Work closely with the Health & Wellness Center team, including medical doctors, psychologists, and counselors.
Support referral processes to external hospitals or specialists when needed.
Act as a liaison between patients, families, and healthcare providers (while maintaining confidentiality).
Health Education & Prevention
Conduct workshops or awareness sessions on medication adherence, stress management, and coping strategies.
Participate in AUW’s wellness and mental health promotion campaigns.
Help reduce stigma related to mental health through student engagement programs.
Administrative Duties
Maintain accurate patient records, medication logs, and nursing notes.
Ensure compliance with ethical, legal, and institutional policies.
Assist in preparing reports on mental health services, usage trends, and case follow-up.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) with specialization/training in Psychiatric or Mental Health Nursing.
Valid nursing registration with Bangladesh Nursing and Midwifery Council (BNMC).
Minimum 2–3 years of experience in psychiatric or mental health nursing (preferably with young adults/adolescents).
Knowledge of psychopharmacology, counseling basics, and crisis intervention.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and de-escalation skills.
Ability to work sensitively in a multicultural, gender-diverse environment.
