Organization Overview:
Bangladesh Jatiyo Mohila Ainjibi Samity [BJMAS/BNWLA] is a lawyer’s association based in Dhaka. It was established in 1979. Its main goal is “to create equal opportunities and equal rights for every woman and child in the country.” BNWLA promotes the rights and status of women lawyers alongside fighting for access to justice for all women & children, particularly for the most disadvantaged and deprived women and children in Bangladesh.
Project Overview:
Since 2018, Bangladesh Jatiyo Mohila Ainjibi Samity (BJMAS) has maintained a strong partnership with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) to implement the Assistance to Vulnerable Migrants and Counter Trafficking (AVMCT) project initiatives in the Rohingya camps in Teknaf Upazila, under Cox’s Bazar District. The project aims to support victims and survivors of human trafficking by raising awareness among people living in the Rohingya camps and surrounding host communities, while also providing essential protection and support services to trafficking survivors.
Job Responsibilities:
Project Planning & Implementation
Develop detailed work plans, budgets, and activity schedules for skills and livelihood components
Ensure timely implementation of project activities according to donor requirements
Mobilize communities and support beneficiary selection using transparent criteria
Coordinate with project team members (trainers, facilitators, volunteers)
Conduct training needs assessments to identify skill gaps among beneficiaries
Design and deliver vocational and life-skills training (e.g., tailoring, handicrafts, entrepreneurship)
Organize training sessions, workshops, and capacity-building programs
Support development of income-generating activities (IGA) and small businesses
Promote sustainable livelihood options (self-employment, small enterprise, agriculture, etc.)
Facilitate market linkages between beneficiaries and employers/businesses
Conduct labor market assessments to align training with demand
Support beneficiaries in business planning, savings, and financial literacy
Engage with local stakeholders (government, NGOs, private sector)
Build partnerships for job placement, apprenticeships, and enterprise support
Facilitate community meetings, awareness sessions, and group formation
Ensure inclusion of women, vulnerable groups, and persons with disabilities
Track project progress through monitoring tools and indicators
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and donor reports
Document success stories, case studies, and lessons learned
Maintain accurate beneficiary and training records
Assist the Protection Coordinator-Case Management and Protection in preparing monthly/quarterly/half-yearly/yearly legal statements/ reports and work plan as per the guidelines.
Assist the Protection Coordinator-Case Management and Protection in preparing internal and external reports within agreed deadlines using BJMAS/BNWLA and donor formats.
Integrate climate resilience, disaster risk reduction, and sustainability approaches
Strengthen community resilience to economic shocks and vulnerabilities
Promote long-term livelihood strategies beyond project duration
Ensure integration of:
Gender equality; Child protection; Disability inclusion
Follow donor guidelines, financial compliance, and organizational policies
Staff Management and Development
Maintain open, supportive, and professional relationships with team members, and promote a strong team spirit.
Provide related feedback to the case worker, volunteers, and develop action plans.
Coach, train, and mentor paralegal volunteers to strengthen their technical capacity, exchange knowledge, address gaps, and provide professional development.
Coordination
Collaborate with the Project Manager, Field Operation Coordinator, and Protection Coordinator to ensure programming is properly supported and that all activities are conducted according to BJMAS/BNWLA Administration, HR, Logistics, Finance, and other policies and procedures.
Coordinate with BJMAS/BNWLA’s other departments as required to ensure effective and collaborative working relationships.
Develop and maintain effective working relationships with all relevant stakeholders, including community members, NGOs, government authorities, and UN agencies;
Participate in internal coordination meetings as required and liaise with BJMAS/BNWLA's other programs as needed to ensure effective collaboration.
Coordinate and follow up with other project stakeholders as required.
Safeguarding
Ensure the safety of Programme Participants, people who come into contact with the organization and team members, from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment, and exploitation, including sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA), to achieve the programme's goals of safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance, and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
Practice, promote, and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.
Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place and encourage others to do so.
Support audits and financial tracking of project activities
Participate in coordination meetings and field visits
Perform any additional duties assigned by the supervisor
