∎ The "Actions for Change" (A4C) program is a three-year initiative by CBM Global Disability Inclusion focused on promoting equitable partnerships between international and local organizations to improve the lives of people with disabilities in Nepal, Nigeria, Kenya, and Bangladesh. In Bangladesh, the program is being implemented by the National Grassroots Disability Organization (NGDO), which is guided by the CBM Global Partnership Principles, ensuring a collaborative and inclusive approach.
∎ The project in Bangladesh aims to enhance the resilience of people with disabilities to mitigate the impacts of climate change and climate-induced disasters. It has three core result areas:
∎ Increased Inclusion in Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and Essential Services: The project plans to train master trainers from disability groups who will conduct training on disability-inclusive DRR and climate change adaptation. Government and NGO stakeholders will also receive capacity-building on inclusive DRR, and community members and disaster management volunteers will be trained on inclusive early warning and evacuation. Accessibility assessments of emergency shelters will be conducted in vulnerable disaster-prone areas of Teknaf.
∎ Increased Access to Climate-Resilient Livelihood Opportunities: Vulnerability assessments for people with disabilities will be conducted, and Village Savings and Loan Associations will be established and supported. These associations will be linked with microcredit organizations and local government resilience programs to support climate-resilient interventions like tree planting.
∎ Strengthening the Disability Movement in Teknaf: NGDO will empower people with disabilities and their representative organizations to hold duty bearers accountable for implementing disability rights laws. Training on disability data collection will be provided, and action plans for registration with relevant authorities will be developed. Community risk assessments will be reviewed and updated.
∎ In addition, the organizational strengthening of NGDO is also a key component, with a focus on developing policies related to safeguarding and Protection against Sexual Exploitation, Abuse, and Harassment (PSEAH). The organization will engage in an exchange visit with another CBM Bangladesh project partner to learn from each other`s practices.
Salary:
∎ Monthly consolidated BDT 50,000 - 53,000/- including all other benefits and allowances. Experienced and skilled candidates would be offered appropriate packages.
