Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Develop and implement child protection programs in integrated way with women protection and empowerment (WPE), Protection Rules of Law (PRoL), Economic Recovery and Development (ERD), in the host community, ensuring they are aligned with project objectives and timelines.
∎ Work closely with department of social services (DSS) officials in district and Upazila level and support to ensure effective case management following case management guideline, identify new case, ensure emergency case management support for vulnerable children, functioning child welfare board, community-based child protection committee (CBCPC) and carry out assessments to identify at-risk children and determine the appropriate interventions needed.
∎ Engage with community stakeholders to establish and strengthen child protection systems.
∎ Engage school management committee and ensure life skill program for school going children, formation, function adolescent club in school
∎ Facilitate community-based sessions to raise awareness on child protection, with a focus on parents, caregivers, and children.
∎ Support the formation of Child Protection Committees within the community.
∎ Collaborate with local authorities and community leaders to promote and advocate for child rights and protection.
∎ Establish child protection situation monitoring system, data and information collection, analysis situation, concerns and report
∎ Monitor the implementation of child protection activities to ensure effectiveness and adherence to schedules.
∎ Prepare and submit detailed reports on project activities, challenges, and outcomes to the Project Manager.
∎ Maintain accurate and confidential records of cases and related activities.
∎ Provide training and capacity development to community volunteers, Child Protection Committees, adolescent club, parents and caregivers, teacher, school management committee, and other relevant stakeholders.
∎ Organize and facilitate workshops on topics such as child protection and psychosocial support.
∎ Work in partnership with other NGOs, Multi- Sector of UN and INGOs agencies, and government bodies e.g. DSS, MoWCA, Youth Development to ensure coordinated efforts in child protection.
∎ Participate and represent organization in different forums, meeting, workshop and coordination groups in district and Upazila level.
∎ Ensure strong communication and collaboration with other organizational sectors, including Education, Health, and Livelihoods.
∎ Young Power in Social Action (YPSA) , established in 1985 (International Youth Year) is an organization for sustainable development working in Dhaka Division, Sylhet Division, Chattogram Division including Chittagong Hill Trat. YPSA has been implementing a project titled “Multi sector recovery and empowerment support for crises affected communities in Cox's Bazar Activity” since 2020. The project is technical supported by International Rescue Committee (IRC) and funded by USAID’s Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance (BHA)

∎ Job Purpose of Child Protection Officer:
∎ The Project Officer - Child Protection will oversee the planning, execution, and monitoring of child protection initiatives within the host community of Cox's Bazar. The role is centered on safeguarding children's safety, well-being, and rights in accordance with the organization's child protection standards and local regulations. Responsibilities to implementation child protection program in project locations which includes ensure psychosocial support for psychologically distressed children, ensure case management in coordination with department of social services (DSS), strengthening child protection systems, child protection situation monitoring and reporting, adolescent life skill program and leading community-based protection efforts.
