∎ Overall purpose:
∎ The Project Manager - AAP is responsible for coordinating the BBC Media Action`s AAP activities in Cox`s Bazar as part of the Rohingya response. The PM represents the BBC Media Action in relevant coordination fora, and provides leadership and technical support for the integration of AAP approaches across humanitarian operations. S/he would also be responsible for facilitating the development of guidelines, SOP`s and other documents that support an understanding of and uptake of the AAP approach. The person would be responsible for the design, development and delivery of training and mentoring that provides technical support to improved knowledge and skills on the concepts of AAP and how to operationalize it. Duties include being able to work closely with BBC Media Action`s research and learning team to analyse research that uses community feedback and views with suggestions on how to use the information to better understand the communities needs and supports evidence-based decision making. The position requires the person to represent BBC Media Action in high level discussion with humanitarian actors, clusters/sectors coordination bodies, donors, and national, regional and global stakeholders.
∎ This post is based full-time in Cox`s Bazar with a lot of travel to Dhaka and other parts of Bangladesh, normal office hours will apply but the nature of the role means that a flexible approach to working time will be necessary.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Responsible for coordinating the BBC Media Action's accountability to affected populations and community engagement (AAP/CE) AAP/CE activities in Cox Bazar as part of the Rohingya response.
∎ Provide technical inputs and leadership in existing AAP documentation relating to the response with advice gaps and inputs on how to improve and operationalise them.
∎ Facilitate mapping of the collective AAP practices in humanitarian operations with suggestions on how to measure current performance against global commitments.
∎ Identify, document and share context-specific best practices on mainstreaming AAP approaches in response and preparedness settings.
∎ Disseminate tools, guidance and promote practice that ensures integration and implementation of AAP standards and principles in the humanitarian programme cycle.
∎ Design engaging and effective training sessions and training materials (including syllabuses, course structures, session plans and handout/toolkit materials) on AAP for the project partners as well as the humanitarian actors.
∎ Technical input and advice to the humanitarian response to support improved analysis of community feedback and research that support changes in programmes for responding to the community needs.
∎ Attend regularly the high-level forums, workshops, and events to provide information that results in increased knowledge and awareness of AAP and how to operationalise it across the humanitarian response in CXB.
∎ Represent BBC Media Action at the regional and global forum.

Additional Requirements:
∎ Essential= E / Desirable= D
∎ At least five years of experience in delivering AAP, CWC and/or Community Engagement programmes in a complex response or preparedness setting. E
∎ Demonstrable experience in providing leadership and technical support to multi-stakeholder working groups to achieve common goals in humanitarian settings, in developing and implementing AAP strategies. E
∎ Excellent understanding of humanitarian coordination mechanisms and their components in Bangladesh and around the globe. E
∎ Experience in designing and delivering participatory workshops, training and mentoring programmes, preferably aimed at high to mid-level humanitarian staff in a humanitarian setting. E
∎ Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team in a challenging and highly fluid environment, flexibility and the ability to handle constant change. D
∎ Ability to analyse research and data on communities and use the findings to inform program design and delivery across the humanitarian response. E
∎ Well-developed IT skills, including Microsoft Office. D
∎ Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to form and maintain effective working relationships at all levels with experience in building consensus and brokering partnerships. E
∎ Excellent communicative spoken English and Bangla language skills. E
∎ Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the proven ability to priorities, work independently and maintain attention to detail. E
∎ Understanding of equal opportunities, safeguarding principles and ability to work safely with children and/or vulnerable adults. E
∎ Strong understanding of gender issues and inclusion within a humanitarian context. D
∎ The role may involve working with groups of vulnerable children and adults. For the successful candidate, mandatory training will be provided on BBC Media Action's safeguarding policy and staff code of conduct. A police background check may form part of the recruitment process. BBC Media Action operates a zero-tolerance policy concerning all forms of abuse and exploitation of vulnerable people.
