∎ To manage Apasen International Day Care Service in Sylhet and play a leading role in assisting and providing the highest standard of professional support in creating and sustaining an environment that will enable each individual service user who are using the services in this Opportunity Zone environment to achieve their maximum potential. To Co-ordinate and provide all logistic support to Phoenix School, Sylhet.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ To coordinate and manage the operational activities in line with modernising day care practice for Opportunity Zone Services in terms of management, administration and service delivery on a day-to-day basis
∎ To manage and supervise Opportunity Zone Workers and any other staff working in Opportunity Zone Services.
∎ To enable people in promoting their independence in their everyday living as their disability allows, retaining their individuality, dignity, developing confidence and offering support to those with learning disabilities, mental health problems and other special needs through the delivery of Opportunity Zone support.
∎ To take lead responsibility for Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults, coordinating the training of staff, overseeing, and supervising investigations and offering advice and guidance on policy and procedures.
∎ To make arrangement for support to clients in meeting physical and mental needs in carrying out different day to day task e.g. washing, bathing, dressing, toileting, feeding, mobility etc. as part of the individual needs covered by a personal care plan.
∎ To make arrangement for support to clients so that they receive stimulation and motivation through conversation and social activity and to encourage the users to see and gasp wider opportunities for physical and mental self-fulfilment. To promote equality of opportunity, choice, privacy, dignity, rights, independence and fulfilment of service users.
∎ To make arrangement for support to clients who require assistance with their personal shopping, training, sports activities, swimming and other outings and trips.
∎ To establish a good relationship of mutual trust and respect with understanding and tolerance in relation to the wider variety of users' personal needs and request for assistance.
∎ To remain professional in all situations maintaining confidentiality at all times, only discussing personal matters in agreement with all concerned and in approved settings.
∎ To make arrangement for the support to the clients in servicing meal, cooking, developing life skills within Opportunity Zone set up and outside wherever necessary.
∎ To be aware of the legislation, regulations and procedures affecting the delivery of the services. This will include Health & Safety, First Aid, Health & Hygiene, Fire Precaution, Adult Protection Procedures, and Issues around disability, Confidentiality etc.
∎ To arrange training for Opportunity Zone Workers on legislations and procedures required for the effective delivery of Opportunity Zone Services provision.
∎ To take lead responsibility for maintaining accessible systems for gathering Complaints, Concerns and Compliments and views from the Service User Forum and Parents meeting; collating this information into local board/ management in head office, which have recommendations for continuous improvement as service provided to service users and their families.
∎ To be able to respond effectively in an emergency.
∎ To carry out such tasks as may be required to maintain the efficiency of the service within the remit of the job.
∎ To monitor the key working system, ensuring that standards are maintained.
∎ To attend staff meetings as required and to ensure that personal capabilities and competencies are maintained through the supervision and appraisal system along with agreed training.
∎ To carry out monitoring tasks required for the service e.g. record keeping, maintaining staff personal files, client records, staff time sheets etc. and ensure that these are updated on a regular basis.
∎ To provide written and verbal reports for the Opportunity Zone Services as required by the CEO or the Management Board. You are ultimately responsible to management.
∎ To attend regular staff supervision session with Country Director.
∎ To attend service users congregation, parent/guardian's and steering committee meeting using our services as required ensuring that their point of view in listened to and where appropriate acted upon.
∎ To work with other members of the staff team and to ensure a coordinated approach.
∎ To contribute to assessment, review care packaging system ensuring people's progress is monitored.
∎ The post holder is required to maintain full confidentiality relating to client's personal information (while being employed at Apasen International and after leaving the job) and must only be discussed within the confines of the work setting with the appropriate member of staff.
∎ Note: This job description is not exhaustive, amendments and additions may be required in line with future changes for smooth running of the project.
Additional Requirements:
∎ An understanding of learning and physical disability as well as the effects it has on Young Adults with disabilities.
∎ Candidate should have Diploma level 4 or above in Health & Social Care as Learning Disabilities Core Skills Education or equivalent.
∎ Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people.
∎ Ability to network effectively with a wide range of people.
∎ Ability to organise a variety of Opportunity Zone activities and service provisions for people with disabilities.
∎ Ability to maintain and record all information and documentations regarding the clients who attend Opportunity Zone Services for monitoring and evaluation purposes.
∎ Ability to coordinate the Opportunity Zone Service and carry out administrative tasks as required for the post.
∎ Capability to provide and maintain confidentiality to service users.
∎ Have the skills to work in an emergency.
∎ Ability to recruit, manage and supervise Opportunity Zone staff and other staff involved in Opportunity Zone Service delivery.
∎ Ability to write concise reports and present information to a wide variety of audience including local administration or NGO Bureau
∎ Ability to liaise and network with professionals from the statutory, public, private and voluntary sector.
∎ Experience of working in a day care setting (adult with learning disabilities) for at least two years or directly involve in working with people with learning disabilities in similar settings.
∎ Experience of working with people with disabilities especially learning disabilities.
∎ Experience of project management, financial management (including budgeting) and administrative procedures.
∎ Experience and understanding of carer's needs and ways of meeting them.
∎ Knowledge of Individual Care Plans and how these are implemented on day-to-day basis.
∎ Knowledge of legislations, policies, and procedures and good practice in relation to people with learning disabilities.
∎ Have good ICT skills - Word Processing, Spreadsheets, Database, Power Point and Publisher.
∎ Knowledge of the principles of equal opportunities, health and safety policy, safeguarding policies, and a commitment to putting them into practice
