Job Responsibilities:
∎ To lead and manage a portfolio of economic justice programmes, projects and partners within Bangladesh and within a policy framework agreed with the Country Director. This role will ensure effective design and management including financial management, of programmes and appropriate support for partners. To recommend projects to partners and to engage with communications and fundraising including from institutional donors. To ensure a strong link exists between our programme and policy influencing and advocacy. Provide representation for programme and on country issues.
∎ The role will take responsibility for the delivery of economic justice projects and contribute to Christian Aid's economic justice campaign, by providing policy analysis and advice, writing briefings, reports and other products, and by maintaining an overview of policy issues related to the economic dimensions of poverty, and global economic governance. This will contribute towards achieving our change objectives, in a way that is consistent with Christian Aid's focus on poverty, power and prophetic voice. The post holder will maintain a network of contacts amongst policy counterparts in civil society, and in institutions CA is influencing, and support the economic justice portfolio in engaging externally in civil society coalitions and relevant advocacy spaces.
∎ Key outcomes :
∎ Christian Aid Bangladesh has strong analysis, positioning and research on economic justice, responding to the external context
∎ CA economic justice programmes are excellent, and aligned with Christian Aid's strategic priorities of 'poverty, power and prophetic voice' and our theological insights and approach
∎ Decisions on country strategy and budgets informed by linkages between partner work, communications and fundraising within the Bangladesh team and other parts of CA. Effective projects and programmes delivered with impact in line with agreed parameters.
∎ Strong portfolio of partners able to respond and support Christian Aid's advocacy, fundraising and communications agenda and positive working relationships with partners developed through regular communication.
∎ Funds used for designated purpose. Compliance with financial policies and procedures including reporting requirements.
∎ Project proposals prepared which are based on strong planning, monitoring and evaluation procedures.
∎ Decisions on programme, project and advocacy work in the country informed by Christian Aid's strategic priorities.
∎ Strong Christian Aid representation within those global or regional level institutions and civil society coalitions of greatest relevance to economic justice priorities

Additional Requirements:
∎ Essential :
∎ Substantial, at least 7 years, experience of international development programme management, including of management of back donor funded projects, and field-based management
∎ Excellent knowledge of the current policy debates, trends and analytical frameworks around economic justice issues·
∎ Knowledge of power and political analysis and rights-based approaches
∎ Knowledge of broader policy debates around development and poverty eradication ·
∎ Experience of advocacy, communications or similar work in an NGO, public policy or similar environment
∎ Excellent verbal and written communications experience especially the ability to communicate complex issues simply
∎ Proven ability to lobby effectively and successfully build relationships.
∎ Experience of programme appraisal, monitoring and evaluation and financial management, working with local indigenous partner organisations
∎ Staff and resource management
∎ Desirable :
∎ Post graduate qualification in related area or business management
∎ Knowledge of the socio-political context in the country or region, including policy advocacy issues in the country or region
∎ Knowledge of funding regulations from UKAID, EU, among others
∎ Experience of working in the region and knowledge of key development issues in the region
