Skills:

Familiarity with community development approaches and participatory planning methods.
Experience:
Minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience in youth development, sponsorship programs, or community engagement.
Proven experience working in the development or NGO sector, preferably in youth development or community mobilization.
The Program Officer – Children and Youth Leadership will be responsible for ensuring the successful implementation of activities focused on youth leadership development, youth group formation, and engagement within the Sponsorship Program. The role also involves managing all sponsorship-related communications and maintaining strong coordination with internal teams, beneficiaries, and external stakeholders to achieve program objectives effectively.
A. Youth Mobilization and Leadership Development
Facilitate the formation and strengthening of youth groups under the Sponsorship Program.
Engage young people in leadership-building activities and identify potential youth leaders.
Support youth-led initiatives and encourage innovative solutions addressing community issues.
Identify and collaborate with existing social movements, providing technical and logistical support to enhance youth participation.
B. Program Implementation and Evidence Generation
Ensure the implementation of program activities related to youth empowerment and sponsorship commitments.
Generate evidence, document best practices, and showcase success stories from program interventions.
Regularly update program mapping and share findings with management for planning and decision-making.
C. Sponsorship Communication Management
Develop and implement periodic sponsorship communication plans in alignment with organizational guidelines.
Manage scheduled and non-scheduled sponsorship communications (e.g., letters, updates, events).
Conduct letter-writing sessions with Sponsored Children (SCs) and ensure timely collection of communication materials, including OCCs (Occasional Correspondences).
Visit SC families periodically to maintain engagement and verify program commitments.
Monitor and track Sponsorship Commitments (SC) benefits to ensure compliance and quality delivery.
D. Capacity Building and Stakeholder Engagement
Strengthen the capacity of Sponsorship Community Committees (SCCs) and youth groups through training, mentoring, and workshops.
Facilitate SCs’ and youth representatives’ participation in various program events and community initiatives.
Coordinate with relevant partners, community stakeholders, and internal departments to ensure synergy in project activities.
