Responsibilities & Context:
∎ As a Phlebotomist, you will be responsible for drawing blood from patients for various medical purposes, including diagnostic testing, blood donations, transfusions, and research. Your primary focus will be on ensuring the safe and efficient collection of blood specimens while providing compassionate care and maintaining patient comfort.
∎ Verify patient identity and confirm the accuracy of test requisitions and patient information.
∎ Explain the blood collection procedure to patients, answering any questions and addressing concerns.
∎ Collect blood specimens in appropriate containers, ensuring proper labelling and identification.
∎ Monitor patients for adverse reactions during and after the blood collection process, providing immediate assistance if needed.
∎ Adhere to safety protocols and infection control measures to minimize risks to patients and staff.
∎ Demonstrate professionalism, empathy, and respect for patient confidentiality in all interactions.
