Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in international development, social science, economics, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
Skills and Competencies:
Analytical Skills: Strong ability to interpret data, spot trends, and make connections between donor priorities and the Foundation’s mission.
Relationship Management: Demonstrated experience in managing partnerships, donor relationships, and/or stakeholder engagements.
Innovative Thinking: Ability to think creatively to design projects and programs that meet both organizational and donor needs.
Strategic Communication: Strong communication skills, particularly in proposal writing, relationship building, and organizational representation.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Skilled in working across teams to build alignment and drive project development.
Qualifications and Experience:
Experience: At least 3-5 years of experience in research, project development, resource mobilization, or related roles within the NGO or development sector.
Technical Knowledge: Understanding of development funding, green finance, and corporate social responsibility (CSR) in Bangladesh.
Language: Proficiency in English and Bangla with strong written and oral communication skills

Reports to: Executive Director
Job Purpose: The Officer, Research, and Innovation will support the Amal Foundation’s mission by identifying and exploring pressing development issues aligned with the Foundation’s goals, positioning the organization as a strategic partner for international and corporate donors, and driving the creation of innovative, mission-aligned projects. This role will be instrumental in researching trends, developing relationships with potential funders, and establishing Amal Foundation as a credible and forward-thinking player in the development sector.
Key Responsibilities
Research and Analysis
Conduct continuous research on key development challenges relevant to Amal Foundation’s mission, with a focus on Bangladesh’s socio-economic context.
Track international donor priorities, emerging funding trends, green financing opportunities, and CSR interests, specifically in the areas of youth empowerment, women’s rights, and sustainable development.
Analyze government policies, national development priorities, and strategic plans to identify alignment and opportunities for partnership with government entities.
Stay updated on technological innovations and policy shifts that could impact or benefit the Foundation’s work.
Donor Engagement and Relationship Building
Identify and establish contact with potential international, corporate, and philanthropic donors who align with the Foundation’s objectives.
Act as a first point of contact, cultivating relationships with donors to position Amal Foundation as a credible and innovative partner.
Collaborate with the Executive Director and the Communications Officer to enhance Amal Foundation’s visibility, reputation, and brand in strategic forums, conferences, and online platforms.
Project Development and Innovation
Leverage research insights to proactively design and propose innovative projects that address priority development challenges while aligning with donor interests.
Collaborate closely with program teams to ensure project ideas are feasible and aligned with Amal Foundation’s operational capacity.
Support the Executive Director in creating proposals and concept notes that strategically position Amal Foundation’s strengths, experience, and value-added for prospective funders.
Government and Stakeholder Engagement
Monitor changes in government policies relevant to the Foundation’s mission areas and assess their impact on project implementation and funding opportunities.
Support the Executive Director and Communications Officer in representing Amal Foundation in government forums, helping to articulate Amal’s value in supporting national development goals.
Cross-functional Collaboration
Work collaboratively with the Communications Officer to develop targeted outreach strategies for both donor and government audiences, ensuring alignment with Amal Foundation’s strategic priorities and mission.
Act as a liaison between the Foundation’s programmatic teams and external partners, helping to bridge knowledge, build partnerships, and strengthen internal capacity in project innovation.
Capacity Building and Knowledge Management
Develop internal training sessions and knowledge-sharing platforms to build staff capacity in research, innovation, and understanding donor trends.
Lead in creating a knowledge repository of funding opportunities, strategic partnerships, and research insights, keeping the Foundation’s teams informed and prepared to act on emerging opportunities.
