Education:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline from a recognized institution; however, this requirement may be relaxed for candidates with relevant experience.

  • Familiarity with donor compliance requirements will be an added advantage.

  • Excellent analytical, reporting, and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficiency in MS Office, Excel and financial management systems.

Responsibilities & Context:

Bangladesh Labour Foundation (BLF) is a leading national organization working to promote and protect the rights of workers across both formal and informal sectors. Since its establishment, BLF has championed the cause of decent work, social justice, occupational health and safety, gender equality, freedom of association, and climate-resilient and just transitions in Bangladesh’s labour landscape.

With robust collaboration with trade unions, civil society, development partners, and government institutions, BLF implements a wide range of programs and advocacy initiatives that empower workers, improve working conditions, and influence public policy to ensure human rights and environmental due diligence (HREDD) across global supply chains.

The Internal Control Officer is responsible for strengthening internal control systems and ensuring compliance with organizational policies, donor requirements, and applicable laws. The role plays a key part in enhancing transparency, accountability, and risk management practices within Bangladesh Labour Foundation (BLF).

This position supports management by identifying process gaps, minimizing risks, and promoting efficient and ethical operational practices aligned with BLF’s mission and core values.

Job Description/Responsibility

Internal Control & Compliance

  • Update, review, and implement internal control systems and procedures.

  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies, donor requirements, and relevant laws and regulations.

  • Conduct regular internal reviews to identify control weaknesses and recommend corrective actions.

Audit & Risk Management

  • Conduct internal audits and prepare for external audits and ensure timely follow-up of audit observations.

  • Identify potential risks and support the development of mitigation strategies in consultation with the management.

  • Monitor risk management practices across departments.

Financial & Operational Oversight

  • Review financial transactions, documentation, and reports to ensure accuracy and compliance.

  • Verify supporting documents, approvals, and adherence to financial procedures.

  • Conduct spot checks and periodic reviews of project and operational activities.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain proper documentation of internal control processes, findings, and corrective actions.

  • Prepare internal control and compliance reports for management.

  • Ensure proper record-keeping in line with donor and organizational requirements.

Process Improvement

  • Recommend improvements in systems, processes, and internal controls.

  • Support departments in implementing efficient and compliant operational practices.
