Experience:
Minimum 2–3 years of relevant experience in agriculture, food security, livelihoods, or resilience programming, preferably in humanitarian or camp-based settings.
Technical Skills and Competencies
Strong technical knowledge of basic agriculture, gardening, market linkage and climate-resilient practices.
Experience conducting practical trainings and demonstrations.
Familiarity with humanitarian or Rohingya response programming is an asset.
Ability to think out side of the box and promote youths food security programming.
Ability to work effectively with youth and community groups.
Understanding of environmental protection, safeguarding, and gender-sensitive programming.
Good coordination and communication skills.
Report writing and documentation capacity.
Working knowledge of Bengali and local dialects; basic English preferred.
Ability to work under pressure and in challenging field conditions.
Proficiency in MS Office and simple digital data collection tools.

Job Summary: The Officer - Agriculture will be responsible for planning, implementing, and supervising agriculture and gardening-related interventions under the Nurturing of Youth in Camp (NYC) project. The role will focus on promoting climate-smart agriculture among youths, centre-based gardening and market linkage, and basic agribusiness skills among Rohingya youth to enhance food security, livelihoods exposure, environmental awareness, and resilience.
The position will provide technical leadership to agricultural training activities, support youth practical learning sessions, oversee and implement demonstration plots and gardens, coordinate with project colleagues and stakeholders, and ensure quality implementation, documentation, and reporting in line with WFP resilience objectives.
Key responsibilities include (not limited to):
Technical Implementation of Agriculture Activities: (40% of time)
Lead the planning and implementation of agriculture, gardening, and greening activities under the NYC project.
Design and deliver practical, youth-friendly training sessions on basic agriculture, home gardening, composting, nursery development, and climate-smart practices.
Establish and supervise demonstration plots, sack gardens, rooftop or container gardens, and other feasible cultivation models in the camp context.
Provide hands-on technical guidance to youth groups during regular practice sessions.
Ensure proper selection, use, and maintenance of agricultural inputs and tools.
Promote environmentally sustainable and nutrition-sensitive agricultural practices.
Capacity Building and Youth Mentorship and Market linkage: (25% of time)
Develop simple training modules, session plans, and practical guidelines adapted to the Rohingya context.
Mentor youth participants to strengthen technical skills, teamwork, responsibility, and problem-solving abilities.
Support refresher trainings and advanced sessions based on youth performance and seasonal needs.
Coordinate closely with trainers and outreach staff to integrate agriculture activities into broader youth development programming.
Encourage youth-led initiatives related to gardening, greening, and food production and facilitate market linkage for youth’s agriculture production.
Coordination and Field Support: (20% of time)
Coordinate with Camp-in-Charge offices, relevant sectors, and relavant organizations to ensure compliance with camp regulations and avoid duplication.
Support joint planning with project colleagues for activity scheduling, youth mobilization, and community engagement.
Conduct regular field supervision visits to monitor quality, safety, participation, and results of agriculture activities.
Facilitate technical support during stakeholder and donor field visits.
Identify risks, challenges, and opportunities and provide timely technical recommendations to the Project Manager.
Reporting, Documentation, and Monitoring: (15% of time)
Maintain accurate records of agriculture trainings, demonstrations, input distribution, and youth participation.
Prepare regular technical updates, progress inputs, and activity reports.
Document good practices, case examples, and lessons learned related to youth agriculture initiatives.
Support monitoring of outputs and outcomes, including production, skill acquisition, and engagement indicators.
Ensure proper documentation, inventory tracking, and reporting of agricultural materials and tools.
Relationships
S/he will report to the Project Manager. S/he will work as a team member in this project.
