Job Purpose:
The Nutrition Supervisor- Nutritionist will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and proper running of the program through providing systematic and regular supportive supervision, monitoring and follow-up of all activities at the field level through center staff and field staff & Volunteers. S/He is expected to manage staff & volunteers at the nutrition site and ensure that programme components are implemented to a high level of quality. S/He will deputize the Deputy Nutrition Manager as assigned by the Nutrition Manager when required.
Responsibilities:
Support the set-up of the nutrition site including seeking relevant approvals from the CICs and the site management agency (if required).
To lead the implementation of the INI activities and ensure delivery with maximum efficiency and professionalism.
Supervise component staffs for the implementation of the INI program to ensure goals and objectives of the program are being met.
Lead the outreach team to ensure implementation of outreach activities and ensure integration between outreach and centre activities.
Develop a plan of work for OTP, BSFP, TSFP, CMAMI, IYCF and outreach activities according to the expected progress of the project.
Ensure the implementation of activities in coordination with the finance and Logistics departments.
Ensure that each member of the nutrition team fully understands the outcomes that are expected from them, supporting team members to work to the highest possible standard.
Ensuring adherence to and respectful to current protocols
Document internal and external monitoring findings, prepare an action plan and share with DPM and PM and execute that plan as per instructions.
Maintain hygiene and sanitation standards in the nutrition site. • Identify training needs within the nutrition team and support the project coordinator in conducting training
Evaluate and update project needs (financing, logistics) at the centre level.
Checking that all the supplies are listed in the register.
Ensuring that stock levels are sufficient for the functioning of CMAM facilities and Blanket Supplementary feeding program (weekly, biweekly, or monthly)
Make a monthly physical inventory of all nutrition supplies.
Ensure sound monitoring of program activities and the monitoring team at the field level and share with line manager(s)
Collaborate with the MEAL team to ensure timely compilation of statistical data and draft appropriate reports on activities, including producing weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly reports and the end-of-program evaluation report.
Ensure documentation of lessons learnt and best practices within the implementation of the INI program.
In liaison with the Deputy Nutrition Manager, establish a network with the other actors in the area.
Develop productive working relationships with CiC and other officials, non-Governmental institutions, and other project partners.
Identify capacity gaps among component staff, prepare an on-the-job capacity building and supportive supervision plan and execute the plan regularly.
Monitor and review performance and, in particular, hold staff accountable for meeting quality standards of work, delivering any improvement goals which have been identified, giving corrective feedback where required and taking decisive action when poor performance is identified.
Effectively manage leave of staff and volunteers to meet HR compliance and run the program efficiently and with quality.
Identify and update vacancies at the centre and outreach level to HR and line managers and fill the gap for positions (as required)
Develop monitoring tools, checklists, and questionnaires in collaboration with the deputy/Nutrition Manager, nutrition expert, HoD and donors and the nutrition sector.
Skill and Competencies:
Education and relevant experience:
MS with BSc in Nutrition and Food Science from any reputed University.
MPH with BSc in Nutrition and Food Science from any reputed University is preferable.
Working experience in a nutrition programme will add value
Required Competences & Skills:
Minimum 2 to 3 years of working experience or a similar position in NGOs/INGOs.
Technical knowledge on Community management of acute malnutrition (CMAM) programming
Demonstrated ability to think strategically, manage effectively, meet deadlines, lead and supervise large field teams, and manage and analyze large-scale databases.
Strong hands-on experience with advanced Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, along with analytical tools such as SPSS, Epi Info, EpiData, and ENA for SMART; demonstrated proficiency in using digital data collection platforms (ODK, KoBo, ONA) and online data visualization tools.
