Educational Requirements:
∎ Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Nutrition and food science
∎ MSc in Nutrition and food science are preferable.

Job Context:
∎ GK was created in 1972 with two visions. Firstly, “the fate of the poor decides fate of the country”. Secondly, “development of the country depends on development of women”. Since 2017, Gonoshasthaya Kendra (GK) and UNHCR have entered in a partnership to respond to the Rohyinga crisis.

∎ Technical Reporting: Nutrition Coordinator
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Overall responsibilities:
∎ Under the supervision of Project Coordinator, the nutrition officer will be responsible for the following main activities:
∎ Implementation of proper nutritional screening for 6-59 months children and PLW at the health facility (Measurer/Record keeper) and community level (CHNWs).
∎ Guide and monitor of the overall nutrition activities of the community health team (CHW supervisors and CHNWs).
∎ Provide technical support for the nutrition team facilitating referral service for severe/moderate acute malnutrition with/without complications.
∎ Provide technical support for IYCF-E activities (IYCF-E Counseling, Rapid Assessments, GMP) as well as sessions on dietary practices of patients of non-communicable diseases.
∎ Coordinate with the nutrition team in the field operations through proper management of facility based nutrition volunteers.
∎ Represent GK in relevant technical meetings and forums in Bhasanchar.
∎ She/he will be responsible for proper record keeping and reporting according to his/her portfolio.
∎ Project implementation
∎ Ensure that nutrition measurers are implementing nutritional screening for all eligible children 06-59m and PLW at the Health post in line with the disseminated protocols and guidelines.
∎ Identify challenges, lesson learnt and recommendation for smooth nutrition service implementation.
∎ Work with the health post staffs for proper referral to Integrated Nutrition Centre (INC) and Stabilization Centre (SC).
∎ Build the capacity of the health staffs and Outreach team- CHW supervisor, CHWs to do nutrition activities and reporting.
∎ Preparation of Yearly Nutrition Message Dissemination plan (Topics, Messages and target group)
∎ Assist the staffs in the implementation of IYCF-E activities
∎ Ensure strict adherence to breast milk substitute (BMS) guidelines for beneficiaries
∎ Improve the provision of quality nutrition counselling and education at the health posts and Community level.
∎ Provide trainings on nutrition to GK staffs according to need assessment.
∎ Special Note
∎ Carry out any additional assignment in accordance with her/his position entrusted by the Health Coordinator and Nutrition Coordinal of GK from time to time and mutually agreed upon;
∎ Management may, at any point of time, modify this job description as it is deemed necessary in Gonoshastha Kendra’s interests in consultation with incumbent.
